MAC Cut a Caper

When I heard that Cut a Caper was coming back to MAC as part of the Heavenly Creatures collection (previously Tartan Tale) I knew I had to get it and be quick! Luckily I managed to get it at my Debenhams counter when it was released.
Cut a Caper is a lustre finish (my fab MAC lipstick range) with a lovely peach/coral tone that gives a nice gloss finish.
The finish us not as dark as the lipstick suggests, with it being a lustre finish the colour is softer and more sheer. Yet once on the lips you still get good colour pay off.
I love the finish and colour when applied it gorgeous and helps my lips to feel fab (I suffer with dry lips). It truly is a great shade and finish, it also lived up to the hype around it which doesn't normally happen.
Did you manage to get one?
This retailed at £14 but is now out of stock, you can try checking eBay for it.
Thanks

MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick

Today's new post is on MAC Viva Glam Nicki, I know I am a bit late to the party!

This is a bright corally pink shade (yellow based), as soon as I saw the first swatches of this I knew I wanted it. It's not a shade I would normally go for as it's super bright and pigmented. I have also noticed that it looks different on everyone, on some people it seems more coral on others more pink. It tends to be a more neon pink on me.

This is a a satin finish lipstick which is lovely and creamy to apply, but if you have dry lips it will be drawn to this. I have to make sure that my lips are in a great condition when I wear this.

The swatch below is just one swipe.

As you can see belows it's almost neon it's that bright.

I tend to wear my Lanolips underneath and then swipe the lipstick over once to get a finish I am happier with.

You can purchase for £13.50 here.

What do you think?

Thanks

MAC Fashion Sets

MAC have decided to take their must have lip shades and release nail polish and lip glosses to match.
The shades available are Myth, Spice, Saint Germain, Morange, Impassioned, Russian Red and Rebel.

I wish we had the choice to purchase the whole collection like North America does. I really liked the look of Razzledazzler (Asia Pacific), Angel (Asia Pacific), and Please Me (Latin America).
You can see some swatches here.

The 3 items will cost you £35.50, you can check out the range here. I wish they had released them as a gift set saving you some money but oh well!

What do you think of this new collection?

Thanks

MAC Hello, Sailor!

I haven't really taken much notice of the recent collection from MAC, there seems to be a new one so often now.  But I did like the look of Hello, Sailor!...though I think it was the photo's, packaging and graphics that caught my eye.

This launch is also a more complete collection containing the usual lipsticks and liglasses but also blush and nail polish etc.

I love the blue and white packaging!
I love the look of the liquid lip balms and the High-Light Powder.

Hello Sailor is available now and is limited edition.

What do you think of this new collection?  Has anything caught your eye?

Thanks

MAC Purple Majesty

Hey,

I decided to have a nosey at the MAC me Over collection, I haven't been tempted by any of the new collections but thought I would check this one out. L had already purchased herself MAC lipglass in Curvaceous.

I decided to try a nail polish from the range as I have never tried one before...and I am soooo disappointed. My first disappointed came when I realised that it looked a bit like Rimmel Black Cherries. You can see a comparison swatch of the two at the end of the post. Though I did realised that Black Cherries is darker then Purple Majesty. I will discuss my second disappointment below.

Right onto Purple Majesty,
I loved the look of the deep berry colour in the bottle and the bottle looks nice, MAC nail polishes are 10ml and cost £9.00. But application was awful, firstly its a 3 coat polish (I don't mind this in polishes under £5 but not in polishes over £5). Secondly it just kept going everywhere, I am not saying I am perfect at applying nail polish as actually I am rubbish. But my nails have never looked so rubbish after, I normally only have to touch up 1 or 2 nails not my whole hand!

Even after 3 coats it still looked patchy. I am so disappointed and certainly won't looked to purchase any nail polish from MAC. There are much better options available on the highstreet for cheaper and better high end nail polishes. I could just have a bad polish and the others maybe good but I am not willing to take the risk for £9.00.

Here is the comparison of Rimmel Black Cherries (left) and MAC Purple Majesty (right).
I had 2 coats of Black Cherries and 3 coats of Purple Majesty, as you can see Black Cherries is more purple toned. Personally from the swatches I think the names should be the other way round, what do you think? I preferred the application of Black Cherries over Purple Majesty, it applied much better and looked a nicer finish.

Have you tried MAC nail polishes? Do I just have a bad one?

MAC Hue

This lipstick seems quite a popular colour from what I have noticed in the blog sphere. After seeing a lot of swatches I decided Hue was a colour I needed, Hue is part of the glaze range. In the swatch below I love the colour and I like the finish as well as you can see it looks nice.

But as soon as I apply it to my lips I don't like it. I find this with MAC lipsticks, I prefer them with a gloss over the top. The colour goes more beige on the lips, whereas the swatch is more peach. You also have to make sure your lips are in perfect condition as it can dry your lips out and look awful on. I also think it looks a bit cakey on even if you apply it lightly.

I am disappointed!! I only own 3 MAC lipsticks that I like Syrup, Politely Pink and Plink. I will not be wasting my money on anymore MAC lipsticks as I find they don't live up to the hype around them. Though I may try to get Ever Hip if I can ever get hold of it again :).

Are you a fan of MAC lipsticks and Hue?

Thanks

MAC Lipglass in Curvaceous

This is from the new MAC Me Over collection featuring in the Nude and Pink section and is a gorgeous pinkie/purple shade. On the lips it falls into a gorgeous natural everyday lip for me - definitely the My lips but Better look.

This is my first Lipglass and I have to admit that I love the non-sticky texture. I've previously purchased the Cremesheen glosses but I much prefer these now.

Have to add that I really loved the whole look of the MAC Me Over collection, lots of gorgeous nudes and pinks, as well as deep purple/wine shades and teals. Just gorgeous and very appropriate for Autumn.

Thinking of being a little more adventurous and trying out the lovely Plum coloured Lipglass in Plum Fair - I wasn't really keen on any of the lipstick shades and fully admit I'm more of a gloss girl.

MAC Matchmaster Foundation

I've always wanted to try a MAC foundation but even the NC15 and NW15 are too dark for me, so I've never had the opportunity. they just don't stock a good range for the fair people out there. However on my little trip to Debenhams last week I was advised that MAC had released a new foundation in a different range of shades.

MAC Matchmaster Foundation:
New foundation technology using translucent pigments to enable a fully personalised finish influenced by subtleties of your own skin's undertone. Moisturising demi-matte finish. Medium buildable coverage. Line reducing soft focus powers
The shades range from 1.0 being the lightest up to 10.0 being the darkest, with a total of 14 shades. It's a described as a virtually invisible foundation, but falls into the medium coverage. It seemed perfect. I tried out the palest colour in Shade 1.0 in store and even though it seemed a perfect match I wanted to try it out at home.

Have to admit I'm in LOVE! The foundation feels amazing on, it blends in perfectly and feels nice and light whilst at the same time providing great coverage. It also lasts amazing well - the bottom picture for example is taken after about 7 hours of wear without a primer -impressed.

Even got compliments about my skin.

I've tried a number of pale foundations over the years yet this is the first that my mum has actually commented on - 'nicest foundation I've seen on you'.

I've never found such an amazing match for my skin tone before from a high end brand.

What more do you need from a foundation???

Roll on payday - I'm off to get a bottle. So worth £24.50, this stuff is amazing.

Mini Shopping Haul

Just a quick post on a few bits I picked up in Chester on Friday morning. I still had a £25 Debenhams gift voucher left over from my Birthday, so as I was out and about I thought I would treat myself to a few bits.

In the end I picked up a Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit and a MAC Lipglass from the new collection MAC Me Over in Curvaceous.

And as an extra perk I managed to get a sample of the new Matchmaster Foundation in Shade 1.0.

I'll put some swatches up in the week.

Barry M Lipgloss combos

So a while ago I picked up the I picked up the Impulse body spray that had the Limited Edition Barry M gloss free with them. I'm a bit late, well very late blogging about the offer however I really wanted to show you how I've been using them.

First up, the pink gloss.

Barry M Pink and MAC Cream Cup

This one has a bit of a sparkle to it, which I usually tend to avoid in lip glosses however it does seem to have that grainy feeling that some get. It's very much a baby pink colour with a fruity sweet smell to it - it made me think of strawberry chewits.

I like to pair this up with my MAC Cream Cup - I love the lipstick on its own but I'm very much a gloss girl. Never feel right without it.

left to right - Mac Cream Cup with Barry M Pink over the top, MAC Cream Cup on its own, Barry M Pink on its own

And here's the combo on,

Next up is my favourite of the glosses,

Barry M Caramel and Barry M Nude - stickers come off so not sure of the number and can't find it on the website

I love this gloss. It's just a nice simple gloss that's lovely and smooth. Also it doesn't have any glitter to it - bonus! It has a caramel scent to it which I love.

Barry M gloss and lipstick, Barry M Lipstick, Barry M Gloss
Here it is on,

I just find that with both of these combo's that I get a nice glossy but natural look. Perfect for the a natural day look.

Lipglosses - Cheap & Cheerful vs MAC

Hey,

I have recently picked up three new lipglosses, two were just spur of the moment buys and one was on my wish list for a long time. The three I got were 17 Va Va Voom in Buff, ELF Mineral Lipgloss in Sorority Girl and MAC Lusterglass in Love Nectar. And out of the three I had been lusting after MAC Love Nectar, I thought the colour was gorgeous.

Now for a bit about each lipgloss:

17 Va Va Voom in Buff (Nude) - this is from the 17 Spring Collection and I purchased this with a nail polish and the Metallic Nudes Palette which you can see here. This costs £3.79 and online it is available in 3 shades which you can see here. This lipgloss is a great nude sparkly shade and I have been wearing it loads and loads. It is classed as va va voom as it plumps you lips up as 17 say on the Boots website 'Get ready for the tingling sensation' . This is quite a strong sensation but I don't mind, I can't say I notice a massive change in my lips. But for the price and the colour I think I might pick up another one.

ELF Mineral Lipgloss in Sorority Girl - this £3.00 from ELF, and comes in 11 shades at present. I purchased this when I was picking up the 32 eyeshadow set (post to come shortly). This is a lovely colour though darer than I thought as I had searched for some swatches online and I was expecting something a little paler, but I do like the colour. This lipgloss is a lovely formula, its so soft and silky.

MAC Lusterglass in Love Nectar - this cost me £12.50 and you can check out more about it here. I already own a MAC plushglass (post here) and I had my eye on this lusterglass for a while, I had seen lots of swatches and I love the colour. The colour is great but I have to say I am a little disappointed with this lipgloss. Its sticky (you know that one where you hair all gets stuck in it) and I don't particular like the applicator (its a little brush, the 17 and ELF are your normal applicators). So when you compare all three, I have ranked them 1-3 (1 the best):
Price
  1. ELF
  2. 17
  3. MAC
Texture:
  1. ELF
  2. 17
  3. MAC

Is it sticky on the lips

  1. 17
  2. ELF
  3. MAC

Colour compared to swatches online

  1. 17
  2. MAC
  3. ELF

Packaging

  1. ELF & MAC
  2. 17

Staying Power

  1. MAC
  2. ELF
  3. 17

As you can see the ELF lipgloss is my favourite with the 17 following closely, I will be buying more from Mineral lipglosses from ELF especially for the price. I am disappointed with my MAC purchase, I will use it but I will be disappointed everytime I put it on!

What are your thoughts on MAC lipglosses? Have you tried any other the ELF lipglosses?

Thanks

MAC Sumputous Olive and Arctic Grey

I own a small MAC collection really and I especially don't have many eyeshadow's, which I'm going to try to work on this year. But I wanted to show you two of my favourite MAC eyeshadows, the first is Arctic Grey which is from an MAC Chill (an old collection 2009 I think) and the second is a Veluxe Pearl in Sumptuous Olive,I say they are my favourites but as with my other MAC eyeshadow's that I own I tend to only use for special occasions or nights out. Sumputous Olive is a lovely metallic khaki, as with all MAC eyeshadows it is very pigmented and applies lovely. I decided to show you a eye look using sumptuous olive,
I have used my Next Cashmere palete for eye base, MAC sumptuous Olive, Barry M in Old Gold 24, Collection 2000 Mascara in Brown. This is a look that I have used before on nights out as I like the darken green golden effect.

Now Arctic Grey is from an old MAC collection, I think it was MAC Chill, and I had picked this up from The Cosmectic Company at Bicester Village.
This was a colour that fits quite nicely into my eye collection and again is super easy for me to wear. I also so think at the time there wasn't many other things I liked at The Cosmectic Store, I hate leaving there with nothing! bUt I really liked this shadow it's a great shimmery grey and as with the MAC shadows I have tried its really pigemented.
For those who don't know The Cosmectic Company is a store that is normally in Outlet Shopping Villages and sells brand ranges at a discounted rate. You will normally find brands such as MAC, Clinique, Estee Lauder etc. I think you can find the stores at the following:
Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth
Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port
Junction One, Antrim
I am hopefully going to pop to Bicester shortley to get some new bits!

For the rest of my face I had used:
Lily Lolo Peepo
Benefit Erase Paste in Fair
Benefit Benetint
Collection 2000 Bronzer
Any ideas and suggestions of MAC eyeshadows I should put on my wishlist?
Thanks

MAC Plushglass in Nice Buzz

I am totally a fan of neutral and pale lip colours, I have recently been trying some darker shades out but I always end up back to a pale colour. I also tend to wear lipsticks over glosses. I used to be a fan lip gloss fan but as I have got older I have moved my addiction to lipsticks instead. But I wanted to share with you a particular favourite lip gloss of mine, it is MAC plushglass in Nice Buzz (which retails at £16.00).

A bit about the plushglass lip gloss from MAC,

'Sheer lip colour with a pearlised high-shine gloss finish. Formulated to make lips look and feel like more – instantly! Comfortable to wear: lush, multi-dimensional. Sensational in application: gives a cool-warm, vanilla buzz to the lips. Moisturises, soothes and visibly plumps the lips to make them look luxuriously healthy and well-conditioned. Contains vitamin E for added environmental protection. To keep lips looking full and lush, use it on an ongoing basis'

Nice Buzz is a very pale gold with tiny gold flecks, but it does not feel gritty on your lips. What I also love about this lip gloss is the smell its soooo yummy like a sort of vanilla smell (I apologise I am rubbish with smells). Also with it being a plushglass it makes your lips all tingly when it goes on and helps to plump them up.

This has been a firm favourite of mine and I have even included a pic of me wearing it back in 2007. I am now and have been for a while looking to get Love Nectar which is a lustreglass. But other than that I am not lusting after any other MAC glosses unless someone can sugguest some colours!

Are you a fan of MAC lip glosses? What your favorite type and shade?
