Nivea #DareToKiss - Lip Prep and Giveaway

So this New Years Eve, NIVEA are attempting to break a record with the longest kissing chain on Twitter. To get involved we thought you can't really prepare to pucker up on New Year without a little preparation and therefore to get yourselves ready we thought we'd share our lip prep tips.

First off, we do the following:

  1. The night before a big night out, we use an old tooth brush to get rid of any excess skin (only use gently mind!).

  2. We then apply a generous amount of Nivea's Lip butters. Nivea lip butters come in 3 variations - Raspberry Rose, Caramel Cream and Original. I'm definitely a Caramel Cream girl. NIVEA Lip Butter helps ensure lips are moisturised to the max and ready for kissing! The lip butters are packed with Almond Oil and Shea Butter to leave you lips nourishing soft and perfect for the wintery months. The rich buttery balm melts instantly into lips leaving them feeling soft and smooth.

  3. If we're in a bit of a jam and did need to get ready quickly, we use a little bit of Lush's Lip Scrub followed by one of the lip butters and your lippie of choice. I love Bobby Brown Old Hollywood - the perfect red!

To win a set of the Lip Butters, simply tell us your lip prep tip along with your email and twitter name to enter.

Giveaway is UK only and open till Midnight Sunday 6 January 2013.

Good luck and Happy New Year from us both.

NOTD - Nails Inc Saville Row

Just a quick NOTD!  I love deep wine, berry and plum colours for winter. I feel like they go with my entire wardrobe.

This little beaut is Nails Inc Saville Row - described as a deep rich plum.  After two coats you get a lovely dark colour and lovely shine.  It actually ends up a little dark on the nails then in the bottle but not too much too worry about.

Perfect for those wintry months.

Christmas Sparkle....

So I have two Christmas Parties coming up. One this Friday and one the following Friday. The first one is a Team night with a meal and hopefully a few cheeky cocktails and dancing afterwards! Where as the second is a firm night out and has a bit more of a formal dress code.

For the first one I really fancied a sparkly dress.  I've been a little obsessed with sequins at the moment and if anyone follows me on Pinterest (http://pinterest.com/latbeautyaddict/) you'll see on my party dress board that there's lots of sparkle.  Well I found this little beauty in Primark. It's part of the Limited Range which is luckily stocked in Liverpool as I had already spied it on Look online and really wanted to try it.  Originally £25.00 it was reduced down to £10.00 - bargain.

Haven't quite decided on shoes and accessories just yet put I'll take pics on Friday and put up an OOTN post on Saturday.

Japonesque Brushes and Tools...

I was kindly sent a selection of Japonesque Brushes/Tools to try out.  I've seen the brushes about but didn't really know where I could get them from and after a quick google search I actually discovered that you can purchase them from John Lewis and a couple of the brushes in Boots. Actually ended up going and having a look in John Lewis and was really impressed with the selection.

I received the Pro Angled Brow Definer Brush 240, Pro Brow/Lash Comb 244 and an Artisan Slant Tip Tweezer. First up the 244 is a great staple brow comb, it's nothing to rave about but it does the job.  The 240 Brow Definer is a fab little brush, the bristles are quite stiff and the size of the brush is quite small which makes it a lot easier to apply the product.  I end up with a much clearer, defined yet natural brow.

Last up who doesn't love a tweezer - I'm just a little obsessed! I have about 8 to 10 different ones.  I've found these to be fantastic for removing stray hairs and keeping my brows lovely and shapped - quick and simple!  The tweezers are definitely very high quality. Even better if the tweezers loose their edge, you simply returned to Japonesque and they'll recondition them for free!

Not only are the brushes fantastic but they arrive so cutely wrapped!  It feels like you've received a lovely little present.

Winter Skin Savers....

With the winter well and truly upon us I thought it would be a good time to share some of my winter skin savers with you! As soon as the weather turns my hands and face get so dry and just don't cope well with the change.  In order to cope I rely on these two little beauties.

The lovely Shea Butter, Macadamia Oil and Marshmallow Hand Food from Soap and Glory is not only hydrating and non-greasy but is seriously the yummiest hand cream I've ever used.  It's not badly priced at £5.00 for 125ml, especially when it's the only thing that seem to deal my the dry skin I get on my hands. I can't leave the house without this in my bag.

My other little gem is Boots Traditional Skin Care - Cold Cream.  For the bargain price of £2.42 for 200ml, this is such an all rounder.  You can use it too take your makeup off, for extra moisture and even as a hand cream. I tend to apply a little to my nose at night (always get dry skin on my nose) and then a little to my hand.  When I'm having a really bad week I apply all over my face or use as a mask.  A little of this goes a very long way and leaves my skin soft and hydrated.

Happy Hair Days

I’m a massive fan of SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) and Paraben free Shampoos and Conditioners. I have a love/hate relationship with my hair and scalp! But both seem to behave so much more when I go for more natural products.

I’ve seen the Happy Hair Days range in both Boots and my local Sainsbury’s for sometime but haven’t really got around to picking any up till recently. I’d not really heard much about the range and have actually even struggled to find a website. But despite this when I saw that they were on offer in Sainsbury’s (half price so only £2 instead of the usual £4) I thought I’d just give it a go.

Given my naturally frizzy, dry Hair I thought the Smoothing range looked the best. Also it looked as though it might smell the best – it’s Blueberry & Pear, whilst the Moisturising in Pomegranate & Ginger and the Colour Care is Marshmallow & Coconut.

So I’ve used the Shampoo and Conditioner a few times now and I have to say I’m loving them. Definitely the best SLS free shampoo I’ve used so far. My hair is much less frizzy (I don’t kid myself – there isn’t a product out there that can get rid of all my frizz!) and the conditioner has left my hair feeling silky soft. I would go as far as to say that the conditioner is one of the best I’ve tried regardless of it being SLS and Paraben Free.

MUA Juicy

Hey,

Today's post is on MUA Juicy.
MUA lipsticks are a bargain price if a £1 so well worth a look. The quality of MUA products always surprises me, there blushes and eyeshadow palettes are staples for me now.

First off the colour is gorgeous its pigmented yet a sheer pastel peach/pink. As soon as I did a swatch on my hand I had to have it. I am not always a fan of bright lipstick (I do not like my lips) but this had the bright but not too bright and sheer effect I love.

But I am not a fan of the consistency on my lips you need perfectly soft lips to wear this and I just don't. So it ends up sitting on my dry patches which is annoying. So as I love the colour I have been applying over lip balm which seems to do the trick.

I need to go and take a look at MUA again as there as some more items I would love to try like the Undressed palette (dupe for UD Naked palette), New Cream Blusher, their new nail polish shades and BB Cream.

Do you have a favourite shade or product from MUA?

We have previously posted on some other items from MUA here.

You can buy MUA cosmetics online or at selected superdrugs stores.

Thanks

A Little Update

So as you've all probably noticed that's not been many posts over the last few months. It's not that either of us having wanted to post or that we've lost any inspiration etc, it's just that life has well and truly got in the way for us both.

First off I moved at the end of August! Now many of you would know that 12 months ago I moved back to North Wales and had actually been living with my mum and started looking for our own place. Well we've know got our new home. Its absolutely perfect but needed a lot of things doing and even after 6 weeks , there's still a few bits we need to do. But it's reached a point where it's only little things a d some rooms are completely finished. It's actually my plan to get a few images up over the weekend. Need a bit of daylight and it's now dark when I get home!
Now K's been having a whole different sort of housing nightmare! I'm not going to say much more as I'm not really sure how much she wants to put up on here as the issues not resolved just yet but looks like its now moving in the right direction.
Anyway we just wanted to apologise for the lack of posting and hopefully we can get back into a normal routine!
Thanks to everyone for sticking with us.

MAC Cut a Caper

When I heard that Cut a Caper was coming back to MAC as part of the Heavenly Creatures collection (previously Tartan Tale) I knew I had to get it and be quick! Luckily I managed to get it at my Debenhams counter when it was released.
Cut a Caper is a lustre finish (my fab MAC lipstick range) with a lovely peach/coral tone that gives a nice gloss finish.
The finish us not as dark as the lipstick suggests, with it being a lustre finish the colour is softer and more sheer. Yet once on the lips you still get good colour pay off.
I love the finish and colour when applied it gorgeous and helps my lips to feel fab (I suffer with dry lips). It truly is a great shade and finish, it also lived up to the hype around it which doesn't normally happen.
Did you manage to get one?
This retailed at £14 but is now out of stock, you can try checking eBay for it.
Thanks

Nail Art Nail Tattoo's

Today's post is on Nail Art Nail Tattoos, here's what they say about them;
'Containing 60 individual stickers, Nail Art Tattoos can be used as boldly or subtly as you like. Make a serious statement on every nail or mix it up by creating an accent nail on each hand to add another dimension to a straight manicure.'
How to apply:
  1. Ready...paint nails with polish of you choice.
  2. Set...wait fir polish to dry, then apply the nail art tattoo. Simply peel from backing and stick them to nails - no need for overzealous pressing, as these nail tattoos stick straight away.
  3. Go...go over with a top coat. Et voila!

Theseare certainly straight forward and easy to apply. I would certainly recommend a top coat as on my first go I didn't and I did knock it off. If you are not very creative at nail art like me this is a great idea.

You can get Nail Art Nail Tattoos for £5.99 from here link.

Thanks

Topshop Lipstick in Secret Admirer

Today's post is on Topshop's lipstick in Secret Admirer which Topshop describe as a warm nude.
I'd say it's far more of a soft pink that is a muted tone. The formula is very smooth and nourishing, applies great.
It's certainly a colour that would appeal to a lot if people, but for me is a tad too pale and flat of a colour. So far I have only been happy if I have out a gloss over the top.
This is another good item from Topshop but it's just not something I would re-purchase as it just doesn't suit me. You can see our other Topshop posts here.
Topshop lipsticks retail at £8.00.
Are you a Topshop fan?
Thanks
