17 Miami Pop and a Freebie

17 have launched their new Summer collection called Miami Pop, though its a shame that the weather has gone a bit rubbish!! With the launch of the new collection 17 are also running an offer that if you buy 2 items from the 17 range you get a free gift containing 2 nail polishes, a nail file and some nail art stickers. So not to miss out I took a look at the new range and decided to grab 2 items so I could get the free gift.

First I'll show you the gift,

It comes in a lovely little gift bag and everything was wrapped up neat in the tissue paper. The nails polishes are a red and a pink, I applied two coats for the swatches the pink could have done with another coat really! Neither are bad though considering they are free. I am not sure I will use anything else from the gift set, definitely aimed for 17's teenage customers!

Out of the two the pink is my favourite as it is much more wearable for my skin tone.

To be able to get this gift I got myself the new Miami Pop Bronzer and 17 Summer nail polish in Palm Beach. The bronzer is £4.99 and comes in the very brighter packaging for this range. Its a marble baked design of two golden shades.

I have to say it actually looks quite garish in the packaging when I opened it up at home. It is also very shimmery, you would need to apply it quite sparingly as it may look at bit over the top! I think you can see that from the swatch above, I just don't feel it suits my fair skin it would be much better for a darker skin tone! I actually wished I 'd got the lipgloss instead.

I also picked up a nail polish, there was a choice of two Down Town (a juicy bright orange) and Palm Beach ( a bright pink). I settled on Palm beach and I love it, it was £2.99.

Its a such a great pink colour, bright and fun - brilliant for the summer.

Overall I like the fun packaging - though I know many won't as it could be perceived to look cheap and a little tacky. I feel the bronzer is suited to a darker skin tone than mine. But the nail polishes seem like a nice investment for the summer and I would be interested to try the lipgloss.

Have you been tempted by the fun, funky and bright Miami Pop? Let me know what you think of the range! Also send any links of swatches of the other item.

Thanks

17 Limited Edition Vintage Eye Palette in Pretty Pastels

I thought I'd give you a quick look at the 17 Limited Edition Vintage Love Pretty Pastels palette. K's previously shown you the Metallic Nudes palette.

First of all I have to say that I don't really pick up many palettes. I'm not usually convinced by the colours in a lot of sets and I have to admit I kind of felt the same about this, but as it was on 3 for 2 I thought I'd give it ago.

Also how cute is the packaging and the actual layout of the shadows.

I don't own many pastels colours so was quite keen to give it a go for spring - just to get some a nice fresh look.

All the colours a shimmery - which isn't also my thing, but I guess it works with pastel shades.

(no flash)

The shadows are not particularly pigmented, except for the dark purple. Which is a bit of a shame, but I think this can be a problem with pastels shades.

(flash)

The shimmery is picked up really well by the flash.

Overall I really quite like the little palette and they blend in quite nicely. I thought I would show you a quick EOTD using the colours. I kept it quite simple really as it was only for work.

I've used the lilac over the lid with the dark purple in the crease and to blend in. I also used a little white on the inside corners of my eyes.

In the picture I've also used:

  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B10 Beige

  • Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-1

  • Benefit Erase Paste in Fair

  • Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

  • Benefit Benetint

  • Accessories Bronzer in Golden Sands.

  • Palmers Lip Butter in Dark Chocolate and Peppermint

Some of My Current Favourite Blushers...

Hey, How is everyone? Today's post is on some of my current favourite blushers (all are also recent additions). I used to wear my Benetint most days with a bit of highlighter or bronzer but at the moment I have been more tempted to use powder blusher. So with making this change to my normal makeup I wanted to introduce you to the current ones that I am using. First up is Sleek's blusher is Pomegranate, I have wanted this for so long yet never got around to ordering it offline (I could never get it in my superdrug). But I was fortunate that Welsh Beauty Blog had it for sale on her blog sale so I got it for £3 you can check out the rest of the colours here. This blusher is very pigmented and is such a rich colour, I have to be careful when applying it or I can easily go overboard. Once applied it's a gorgeous shade that has a golden shimmer as well.

Second up is more of a bronzer/highlighter but I love the colour I wanted to show you guys! It's from George at Asda and I picked it up on a recent trip, you can check out the other items I got here. With being very pale this has been giving me the right amount of glow that I need! Third up is a new purchase that I got in my Mini ELF Haul . It's a studio blusher in Merry Berry which retail at £3.50 and you can see here. I was worried that this was similar to the Sleek one but they are quite different. ELF is a lot more plum toned, and not as pigmented as I hoped but it actually works better as it is on my skin tone.

Fourth is my Benefit Bella Bamba Blusher, which retails at £23.50 and you can see more on Bella Bamba here. This is a well pigmented pink/coral shade with a light gold shimmer - prefect for summer! Next up is Collection 2000 Blusher is No4 Trouble which retails at £2.99, as I mentioned in my previous post here this shade is not very pigmented, yet it does have a nice warming tone for my skin and has become a firm fave.

Lastly we have Boots 17 Sweet Kiss from the Spring Collection at 17 this retails at £3.49, you can see my post here on the Spring Collection at 17. This is such a gorgeous pink and again suits my skin tone great! Have you got a current favourite blusher? Any suggestions of new ones to try or look out for?

Thanks

Lipglosses - Cheap & Cheerful vs MAC

Hey,

I have recently picked up three new lipglosses, two were just spur of the moment buys and one was on my wish list for a long time. The three I got were 17 Va Va Voom in Buff, ELF Mineral Lipgloss in Sorority Girl and MAC Lusterglass in Love Nectar. And out of the three I had been lusting after MAC Love Nectar, I thought the colour was gorgeous.

Now for a bit about each lipgloss:

17 Va Va Voom in Buff (Nude) - this is from the 17 Spring Collection and I purchased this with a nail polish and the Metallic Nudes Palette which you can see here. This costs £3.79 and online it is available in 3 shades which you can see here. This lipgloss is a great nude sparkly shade and I have been wearing it loads and loads. It is classed as va va voom as it plumps you lips up as 17 say on the Boots website 'Get ready for the tingling sensation' . This is quite a strong sensation but I don't mind, I can't say I notice a massive change in my lips. But for the price and the colour I think I might pick up another one.

ELF Mineral Lipgloss in Sorority Girl - this £3.00 from ELF, and comes in 11 shades at present. I purchased this when I was picking up the 32 eyeshadow set (post to come shortly). This is a lovely colour though darer than I thought as I had searched for some swatches online and I was expecting something a little paler, but I do like the colour. This lipgloss is a lovely formula, its so soft and silky.

MAC Lusterglass in Love Nectar - this cost me £12.50 and you can check out more about it here. I already own a MAC plushglass (post here) and I had my eye on this lusterglass for a while, I had seen lots of swatches and I love the colour. The colour is great but I have to say I am a little disappointed with this lipgloss. Its sticky (you know that one where you hair all gets stuck in it) and I don't particular like the applicator (its a little brush, the 17 and ELF are your normal applicators). So when you compare all three, I have ranked them 1-3 (1 the best):
Price
  1. ELF
  2. 17
  3. MAC
Texture:
  1. ELF
  2. 17
  3. MAC

Is it sticky on the lips

  1. 17
  2. ELF
  3. MAC

Colour compared to swatches online

  1. 17
  2. MAC
  3. ELF

Packaging

  1. ELF & MAC
  2. 17

Staying Power

  1. MAC
  2. ELF
  3. 17

As you can see the ELF lipgloss is my favourite with the 17 following closely, I will be buying more from Mineral lipglosses from ELF especially for the price. I am disappointed with my MAC purchase, I will use it but I will be disappointed everytime I put it on!

What are your thoughts on MAC lipglosses? Have you tried any other the ELF lipglosses?

Thanks

17 Spring Collection Goodies

Hey,

Well I am sure you have all seen the press releases for the new 17 Spring Collection, so I wanted to show you 3 items I got from the new lines. These were even better as Boots are also running 3 for 2 on all the 17 range.
The items I got were Lasting Finishing Fix Polish in Forever, 17 Blusher in Sweet Kiss and 17 Limited Edition Vintage Love Palette in Metallic Nudes. Firstly I'll show you the palette, you could choose between the Pretty Pastels and the Metallic nudes. I choose the Metallic Nude which retails at £5.49 and contains 6 velvety metallic shades, I am not a pastel kind of girl!
The eyeshadow are really pigmented and all have the metallic finish, I also think the palette looks great, all in all it is a lovely little palette to add into my collection. But the downside for me is that the majority of the shades lean towards a rust colour which doesn't seem to suit my skin colour that much. I think I will mainly use shade 1, 2 and 6. Which is a shame as this palette is good value for money.
The next item I got was from the Lasting Fix nail varnishes in a new shade called forever, these retail at £2.99 and come in about 6 shades (I may need to get all 6 colours).
I really fancied this colour as it looked a slightly warmer pinkier nude tone, and and so far I do like it. It took three coats in the above picture but I still wasn't completely happy with the finish.
Lastly as it was 3 for 2 I quickly picked up the Blusher in Sweet Kiss, which was £3.49. I am soooo glad I picked this up, its a perfect shade for me and its a gorgeous soft pink with a slight gold shimmer and I have found its buildable.
It actual slightly reminds me of a paler version a Sleek Rose Gold, its really lovely.
All in all I like the new Spring Collection and will be off to take a look at some of the other bits!
Thanks

EOTD 17 Glam Rocks Palette Freebie...

This palette has been around for a while but I had actually had it off L in my Thank Gifts for helping on the blog. So I wanted to just show you the palette and an eye look I had done with it. To get the palette you need to spend £6 or more on 17 cosmetics at Boots, see here.
The palette contains 6 colours and is a wonderful free gift as normally with free gifts I tend to have something in them or a certain colour that I would never use, but this is soooo usable. The palette certainly doesn't look cheap and comes with a great mirror. The colours seem to be Glitter Style Queen, Glitter Spirit, Night Sky, Mardi Gras, Punky Purple and Darkness (2 x matte, 4 x shimmers). When I had swatched them above I didn't use a primer and they don't seem very pigmented but they are great on and the colours come out a lot stronger.

I decided to create an eye look using Glitter Style Queen as highlighter, Spirit, Night Sky, Darkness.
For the look I had used:
Benefit Erase Paste in Fair
Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion
17 Glam Rocks Palette (Glitter Style Queen, Darkness, Glitter Spirit, Night Sky)
E.L.F Mineral Eyeliner in Ash
Collection 2000 Mascara in Brown

I also tested out my Fearne cotton Brushes which L also got me and I love them so far.

Has anyone else been able to get their hands on this palette? what are your thoughts?

17 Starry Eyes trio in Starstruck

So both me and K have been on a bit of a winning streak at the moment with giveaways - very weird but obviously amazing at the same time.

My most recent win was a 17 starry eye trio in Starstruck.

I actually don't own a single eye shadow from 17 and I'm not really sure why as I love the range.

The colours in the pack are gorgeous!

and perfect for a smokey eye!

Weirdly never used a pink before - never convinced it would look right, but I LOVE it!!

They blend in really well and are just a great little set to have in your collection.

Ve been using this regularly over the Xmas period.

They're around £4.99 from Boots and come in a number of different shades.

17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Beehive

Just a quick review of 17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Beehive. I've seen this about for a while and I wasn't really sure about it.

In the end I gave up and picked it up, cos I was convinced it would look good on!

I'm glad to say I was right.

It has a lovely pinky/peachy tone to it, which is spot on for me. I'm just not really sure why I haven't picked it up sooner - its perfect.
It goes on with a nice gloss to it and its really moisturising - so doesn't look dry! Just love it.
Here's a pic of it on yesterday from my FOTD.

Its perfect for work and it's definitely working it's way up to one of my everyday favourites.

17 Nail Polish in Pink Grapefruit

Okay so this is quite a bright colour for Autumn but with the weather being miserable lately its been nice to wear something cheerful.

I love colour so much - this was a highly used polish over the summer. It has a tendency to look really pinkie sometimes or really red. Its just fab!!!!

I really like the quality of 17 polishes. I only applied 2 coats in the photo and the coverage is good, but I think I could have really used a third coat for it to truly be opaque. I've had it on 2 days now and have only a little tip wear. I have to admit that I hardly have any chips when I wear 17 polishes which I think is fantastic for £2.99.

Actually on the hunt now for some more autumn colours, but not the typical greys, purples or greens. So any recommendations are welcome.

NOTD Boots 17 Nail Varnish in Parma Violet

Given that the shade is that of some of my favourite sweets I couldn't resist this.

I intially bought it when I was looking for a pastel purple colour. It wasn't what I was initially looking for colourwise but now I love it! I find it goes on a bit better than my pastel yellow nail varnish by Boots 17 but it still chips very easily. I am talking in a matter of hours unless you wear falsies.

It's still soooooo pretty though. What do you think ladies?

Boots 17 Sheer Moisture Lipstick in Cashmere Blush

I’ve previously mentioned that I’m not great with lipstick…..really not sure why I have such a problem but I can never find a colour that looks right, I don’t really like anything that is a bit sheer (you know the ones with all the sparkly bits in) or matte ones - I just find them all a bit drying on me – nightmare! So all in all I really struggle.

I’ve recently picked up Boots 17 Sheer Moisture Lipstick in Cashmere Blush and I love it. Its got a lovelly pinky/corally colour to it and is so damn cute!

without flash

with flashEven though its states ‘sheer’ in the name it doesn’t have any sparkly bits in it which is great, also haven’t found it to be dry at all - it goes on with a nice glossy finish to it. However this does fade after a while so I have been using Rimmel Royal Gloss in Yummy over the top – the colour is just about right for the lipstick so that I’m not altering the colour much, although would work just as well with a clear gloss.
