Models Own Soda Pop

Models Own Soda Pop is a gorgeous, almost peachy rose pink shade that's perfect for spring (although it doesn't feel like we're heading towards spring at the moment with this horrible cold weather). It has a very retro 50's vibe to the shade which is reflected in the name. The colour is exactly the right shade of pink for me.

I applied 3 coats as the application didn't look the greatest after 2 - it was still slightly streaky and not quite opaque.  Once on the finish was smooth and glossy which ticks all the right boxes for me in a polish.  It also managed to stay chip free for 5 days on my nails - I actually took this picture after it had been on for 4 days.  This is a definite plus when you work full time and don't have lots of spare time to play around with your nails in the evenings.

Priced at £5.00 - I actually ordered mine from Next.

Model's Own Ice Neon

So there's lots of nail effect polishes about at the moment and I have to say I'm not all that keen on a lot of them - Caviar Nails.  Well these are the latest to the selection - Model's Own Ice Neon collection.

The colours are fun and bright - especially for summer.  The whole idea of the range is that they keep their fluoro neon shade Day-Glo bright by keeping them in the fridge.  Yep the fridge! So want the pink, purple and coral ones.

Exclusively available form the Bottleshop on the 9th March or you can pre-order on the website.  will then be available in Boots from 22nd March.

Priced at £5.00.

Model's Own Hed Kandi

So today's review is on the Model's Own Hed Kandi Nail Polish - we have Hedonist, Disco Heaven, Ibiza Mix, Beach Party, Balearic Cool (left to right and top to bottom).

Models Own have combined with Hed Kandi to create a collection inspired by the summer party capital Ibiza and I definitely think they've managed that.  The range is very bright and fun - perfect for a clubbing night out and at £5.00 each they're great.

Hedonist is a gorgeously bright coral that is probably for me the most wearable of the shades and a perfect colour for summer.

Disco Heaven is lovely, but I'm just not a fan of glittery polishes. K on the other hand loves them and this is right up her street.  Now you'll noticed that in the picture, the nail looks badly painted however I've included this image to highlight that you need to be careful as it blobs off the brush - nightmare.

Out of the two glitter polishes I could more see me using Ibiza Mix.  I love the different colours included and quite fancy this on my toes for summer.  Like with any glitter polish you need a couple of coats to get a good finish.

Now Beach Party is a very bright orange.  Honestly it looks a lot more OTT here and in the bottle than the end result.  I can see this working will with most peoples summer wardrobe.

Now I love Balearic Cool!  Fully admit that I was a bit apprehensive at first but once on it really does live up to it's name and gives just the most lovely sea blue colour.  This is going to be an absolute staple for me this summer and if I was off to Ibiza this year this would be my colour of choice from the set.  Possibly with an Ombre effect using Ibiza Mix on the tips.

Finally some extra pictures of Ibiza Mix used as a top coat.

Overall for £5.00 these are such a lovely bunch of fun colours for summer and I have to say that as a brand the polishes are great quality at a reasonable price.

Models Own Eyelash Curler

I had recently dropped my eyelash curlers on the floor and they broke....I was devastate as I was just about to use them and I don't have a back up. That lunch time I popped into Boots to pick a new pair up. I decided on this Model Own pair, I mainly got them as they looked nice....I know not a great reason.
These cost me £6 from Boots but now on Models Own website they are showing as £7, you can talk a look at them here. Here is what Models Own say,
'Use this professional Models Own Eyelash Curler to create show stopping lashes! The engineered handle helps steady your hand and creates fuller and more defined lashes.'

I may have picked these up for the wrong reason but these are brilliant! I always like to curl my lashes and these have made a great difference, they really open my eyes up and lift my lashes.

The handles on these make it so easy to grip and they make it easy to grip your eyelashes well without over squeezing.

I don't think I have owned a pair that aren't heated that have worked this well before.

All in all I am so happy with my purchase, these work brilliantly well and so much better than my last pair.

Have you tried these? What are your favourite eyelash curlers?

Thanks

Models Own gloss free with Diet Coke

We've already mentioned the most recent Diet Coke offer which you can see here. But essentially it's simply buy 2 bottled of Diet Coke and get a free Models Own gloss from a choice of 4.

I went for Glossy Pink but will probably pick up another one as they looked quite nice.

The gloss applies well and I don't find it too tacky, which is always good. Have to say that you don't really pick up much colour without pilling it on! Wonder if that's the same for the dark shades??

The offer is differently well worth a look especially if you pick up Diet Coke on your lunch anyway!

Available in most Boots

Disco Nails

I love sparkly things, I am like a magpie while out shopping. After seeing numerous posts on Models Own Juicy Jules I finally got hold of one.
Models Own nail polishes retail at £5 and online or in Boots they occasionally run 3 for 2 offers or buy 3 and save £3. I just picked mine up in Boots, but after getting it I saw it in a set of 3 glitter polishes in River Island for £10, see here.

Its just as lovely as I expected, its like a disco in a bottle. Below is a swatch with two coats which on my actual nail I quite like.

But a I also really like it as a glitter top coat, all the below are 1 coats.

From left to right Models Own Betty Blue, Miss Sporty in 420, George Black, and Fearne Cotton in Hot Pink. I really love it over the Miss Sport dark grey...I may have just found may Christmas nails. I did a post a couple of weeks back on the sparkly shoes I wanted for the Christmas season, but is this going to be over kill.

Are you a Juicy Jules fan? Do you have a favourite combo? Will you be rocking glitter this festive season?

Thanks

Bargain Beth's Blue

I absolutely love a bargain and I spotted this one in River Island the other day.

They had a couple of Models own sets and singles on sale. I managed to get Beth's Blue for £2 while it was still £5 across the road in Boots...bargain!Its a lovely pastel lavender shade and the application was great, its a great creamy colour which you can see below.

I love it own, I know its not very autumnal but I like it all the same. You can see our other Model Own swatches here.

Whilst in River Island I noticed that they had some colours colours in their sale. I think I spotted Purple Passion for £2 as well. Then they had a 3 piece set for £5 which included had a yellow, orange/coral and a blue. So it is worth checking your River Island out.

Now I know Models own sometime runs a 3 for 2 in Boots (not on at the moment) and they do offers for 3 for £12 on their website etc. But in River Island they had 4 gift sets of Models Own that retailed at £10 which you can see here. I really like these little sets and would love the glitter set!

Are you a Models Own fan?

Fresh and a little bit Fruity...

Now the sun is shining I am craving lots of fresh bright colours! Luckily it seems the highstreet and make-up brands are feeling the same.

ASOS has a whole nail section called Zing It On, which is full of fun bright and fresh colours. They also have some great make-up choices in these shades.

Sleek have there new i-Divine Palette in Paraguaya which which you can see here, its full of lovely peaches and apricots.

Barry M have some amazing shades which you can see the full range here, but my faourites are Peach Melba, Strawberry Ice Cream, Lemon Ice Cream, Pink Flamingo and Coral.

Also Models Own and Barry M both do some great eyeshadows in these shades. I am not sure I am brave enough to try alot of the oranges, yellows and greens, but I love the peach and coral shades.

Are you a fan of these shades? anyone got any must have buys?

Thanks

Models Own EOTD

Don't you just love it when you rediscover a product that you completely forgot about! Even though I now have my make-up really organised I tend to use a lot of the same products on a daily basis. But I noticed a Models Own eyeshadow duo that I hadn't really used so decided to wear it for work. The duo was from the gift you could get with some tokens from Fabulous magazine, which you can see a post here. The duo is a charcoal/black shade and a pale gold, below is the look I did using the Charcoal shade. Products I used:

  • Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect no 71

  • Lily Lolo Blush Away

  • No7 Quick Cover Blemish Stick

  • No7 Mascara in Brown

  • Models Own Duo Set - Charcoal Shade

  • Bourjois Round Pot in 03 Rose Perle

  • E.L.F Studio Blush in Merry Berry

Models own in Magenta Bargain

ASOS have currently got a fantastic Sale going on in their Beauty department which you can check it out here. And when I spotted this models own set I couldn't resist buying it (along with some other little bits...naughty!)

image from www.asos.com

The set is currently £2.50 and contains Models Own 6 sided nail buffer and choice of two nail polish..I decided to get the set in Magenta but you can also get it in Champagne (which I already own). I think this set is a real bargain for the price as the nail polishes alone retail at £5.

The picture above it with two coats on and applied messily by me sorry! I love the colours is such a great pink and who doesn't love a bit of glitter! I wouldn't necessarily wear this on my finger nails as it would take a good 3/4 coats for me to be happy but I would wear it over a pink polish so I didn't have to do as many coats. I am tempted to put this on my toes later!

But I was also inspired by Fee from Make-up Savvy to try some nail art, now I am not one for nail art myself and I am not creative at all but Fee posted a tweet of a nail art she had done and I loved it. So why not at least try doing graduated glitter!

I have used Fearne Cottons Fuchsia Pink on right and Barbara Daly Very Violet, I know they look lame attempts but I am quite pleased with the fuchsia pink. I am even going to try it for a night out I have planned soon.

Have you splurged in the Sales? Are you a nail art fan?

Thanks

Hunt for a Sheer Lip Balm

I have spent most of the summer hunting for a sheer lip balm, I had in my mind that I wanted a shimmery pink lip balm I could use for my wedding (I got married 2months ago) or for everyday day!

My fav’s are Models Own in Ballet Pink and Yes to Carrots Lip Tint in Cotton Candy Pink and Coral Sunshine.

Model's Own in Ballet Pink
I got the Model’s Own in Ballet Pink from their website for £5, I love the colour it's a lovely sheer shade of light pink, its really moisturising and I actually like the sweetish smell.

Yes to Carrots

The other two I love are Yes or Carrots Lip Tints, you if you want to find out more you can visit there site. I got my two from ASOS for £5 each. From the website:

"Paraben Free—Cruelty Free—Natural, organic skin, hair and lip care. Taking care of our environment AND making you beautiful"

These are great to have in my handbag to just pop on! They have a minty flavour and both are shimmery, they were rubbish to swatch due to sheer consistency! They also do other lip items which I’m going to look at getting on the website and ASOS.
