NOTD Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Color in Surrel

I've been after the perfect cornflower blue shade of nail polish for a while.  Nothing I've seen as quite been what I was looking for.  Now I've not actually tried or looked at any of the Maybelline polishes before and was actually only looking through their Colour Show range and just happened to spot this gorgeous shade in their Gel Nail Color range.  The shade is just the perfect blue.

The polish applies easily and smoothly in two coats.  I was left with a lovely glossy finish after two coats.  This is the second gel polish I've tried - the first being Rimmel's Kate Moss range (will try and get a review up shortly on that one) and I have to say I love the way they go on.  I find that their application is just very easy and even if you feel it's looking a little streaky as it dries the end result isn't.  Now it's states 7 days strong and in the picture above, I was at 3 days and you can see a little chip on my thumb, and there's been a little tip wear but nothing like I would usually expect by Day 3.  Can easily see this staying on through to Sunday - which is a definite bonus when you work full time.  It's much easier to apply a polish on a Sunday night for the week.  I've spied a deliciously looking Berry shade and a gorgeous Green that I need to try out next!

Priced at £4.09 (and currently on 3 for 2 in Superdrug)

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Dragon Fruit NOTD GNP11

Just a quick NOTD featuring Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Dragon Fruit.

With the weather finally looking up its made me want to crack open the bright nail shades. And though I do have a lot of nail polishes I decided I wanted something new. I had been wanting to try these Gelly nail polishes fom Barry M for a while and this shade jumped out to me. The idea behind the concept is a glossy high shine in one coat. I did do two coats here but I have seen in reviews if other shades they are opaque in one coat.

This polish is a great spring shade...I will be making good use of this throughout spring and summer.
These retail at £3.99 and are available in 13 shades and I now really want Blueberry and Lychee.

Have you tried any? What do you think?

Thanks

Models Own Soda Pop

Models Own Soda Pop is a gorgeous, almost peachy rose pink shade that's perfect for spring (although it doesn't feel like we're heading towards spring at the moment with this horrible cold weather). It has a very retro 50's vibe to the shade which is reflected in the name. The colour is exactly the right shade of pink for me.

I applied 3 coats as the application didn't look the greatest after 2 - it was still slightly streaky and not quite opaque.  Once on the finish was smooth and glossy which ticks all the right boxes for me in a polish.  It also managed to stay chip free for 5 days on my nails - I actually took this picture after it had been on for 4 days.  This is a definite plus when you work full time and don't have lots of spare time to play around with your nails in the evenings.

Priced at £5.00 - I actually ordered mine from Next.

Model's Own Ice Neon

So there's lots of nail effect polishes about at the moment and I have to say I'm not all that keen on a lot of them - Caviar Nails.  Well these are the latest to the selection - Model's Own Ice Neon collection.

The colours are fun and bright - especially for summer.  The whole idea of the range is that they keep their fluoro neon shade Day-Glo bright by keeping them in the fridge.  Yep the fridge! So want the pink, purple and coral ones.

Exclusively available form the Bottleshop on the 9th March or you can pre-order on the website.  will then be available in Boots from 22nd March.

Priced at £5.00.

NOTD - Nails Inc Saville Row

Just a quick NOTD!  I love deep wine, berry and plum colours for winter. I feel like they go with my entire wardrobe.

This little beaut is Nails Inc Saville Row - described as a deep rich plum.  After two coats you get a lovely dark colour and lovely shine.  It actually ends up a little dark on the nails then in the bottle but not too much too worry about.

Perfect for those wintry months.

Nail Art Nail Tattoo's

Today's post is on Nail Art Nail Tattoos, here's what they say about them;
'Containing 60 individual stickers, Nail Art Tattoos can be used as boldly or subtly as you like. Make a serious statement on every nail or mix it up by creating an accent nail on each hand to add another dimension to a straight manicure.'
How to apply:
  1. Ready...paint nails with polish of you choice.
  2. Set...wait fir polish to dry, then apply the nail art tattoo. Simply peel from backing and stick them to nails - no need for overzealous pressing, as these nail tattoos stick straight away.
  3. Go...go over with a top coat. Et voila!

Theseare certainly straight forward and easy to apply. I would certainly recommend a top coat as on my first go I didn't and I did knock it off. If you are not very creative at nail art like me this is a great idea.

You can get Nail Art Nail Tattoos for £5.99 from here link.

Thanks

O.P.I Autumn Winter Nails

I adore Autumn Winter nail colours and I love when the new collections are launched. O.P.I has two fantastic collection out this year.
First up is the OPI Skyfall Collection dedicated to the 50th Anniversary of Bond 007 films. All colors of this collection are named after James Bond movie titles. I love the look of them all except Die another die and The spy who loved me (not much of a red fan).
Next up is Germany Collection by OPI, inspired by what fashion editors are calling "Europe’s hottest new fashion metropolis," the Germany Collection by OPI embraces the classical elegance as well as the avant-garde that is modern Berlin. Again I love all but the red and Schnapps Out of it!
The Germany collection is out now and I think the James Bond collection is out October with the new Bind film Skyfall out November.
What do you think? Which shades do you like?
Thanks

NOTD L'Oreal Parisian Rooftops

Today's post is a review on a new nail polish I picked up from Boots. It is from the new Colour Riche nails which is L'Oreal first long lasting mini nail collection, the shade I got was Parisian Rooftops. The collection contains 41 gel based colours designed by L'Oreal Paris' Colour Creative Director Orrea Light. The choice of shades is great, the cost £4.99 for 5ml bottle which I do think is expensive.

Parisian Rooftops is a taupe grey shade with a slight purple undertone. I like the colour against my skin tone, it's far more grey toned than a lot of the the grurplewhich I prefer.

I would love to own all the shades, they may not be the best ever polish but for some reason I am really drawn to them and I love them. You can see swatches if my other shades here.

The swatch above was with 2 coats applied and you can see it gives a great opaque finish. Application is lovely and easy due to the fat fat brush (my favourite type of brush to apply nail polish). Though the consistency can be a little runny so just watch out!

What do you think? Overall I like this nail polish though its a tad expensive and I would certainly look at more shades. Have you tried them? Do you have a fave shade?

Rimmel Lycra Pro Finish in Night Flight

Today's post is a NOTD featuring Rimmel Lycra Pro Finish nail polish in Night Flight.
This is a very dark Aubergine shade, in daylight you certainly see the purple tint but sometimes indoors it looks black! This was three coats but that was my poor and lazy application, you could do two coats and be ok. This claims it will last 10 days, I can't comment on this as I have so far done 2 days (so far all good).
It retails for £4.59 and is available at most Supermarkets or chemists. what do you think?
Thanks

Orly Electronica in Shockwave

Today's post is a nail of the day featuring Orly's new Electronica collection.

The shades from left to right are:
Decoded: Slate grey creme
Preamp: Girly pink with gold shimmer
Shockwave: Royal blue creme
Syncho: Duochrome pink/gold

I have swatches Sockwave below.
Again this applied great and I love the handle on Orly nail polishes, it also dried quick which is another bonus. I love the formula and finsh of Orly, they are fantastic. I am becoming quite a fan, especially as I can get the mini nail polishes to £5 in my local Boots.

I am just not convinced I like the colour on my skin tone but I could see this suiting so many other skin tones. I am just a bit too pale! I have seen other images where this looks more Royal Blue but on me and the photos I took it seems more inky which is probably why it doesn't suit me.

Another great collection!

These are currently available from Beauty Bay for £7.95 or £12.95 for a mini 4 pack.

What do you think? Are you an Orly fan?

See our previous Orly posts here.

NOTD Barry M Blue Moon

Just a quick NOTD for you!
This is Barry M Moon Blue, my lovely colleagues from work got it me for helping their team out!
This is such a lovely shade. It's pale powdery blue with a slight shimmer running through it. But for those who do not like a shimmery polish, it isn't really look shimmery once applied and dried.

The polish is quite sheer, it took 3 coats for the finish above (4 would have been better!). It such a gorgeous shade for the price though, it's aso very flattering on. A great summer shade without being too bright or in your face. It would be lovely as a holiday nail look!

These retail at £2.99 and you can purchase here.

Are you a Barry M fan? What's your favourite shade?

You can see our previous Barry M posts here.

No7 Stay Perfect Glitter Top Coat in Silver

Today's post is on No7 Stay Perfect Glitter Top Coat in Silver from the new Limited Edition Summer Collection.
Here's what No7 says,

'These No7 Nail Glitter Top Coats will ensure your nails have fun this summer. Worn alone or on top of your favourite summer colour they'll add extra nail power and some much needed sparkle to an old classic.'

I was super excited when I saw this collection especially the nail polishes and lipglosses. As the £5 off No7 vouchers are out again I decided to get the silver glitter top coat first.

Below is a swatch of two coats of the nail polish.

It has small and larger glitter in it, and is such a great top coat. Here is the polish done once over a colour I was already wearing (Ciate Purple Shebert).
This retails for £8.00 (£3.00 with voucher!) and you can get a choice of silver or gold. As I got this with the voucher I think it's great...not sure it's worth £8.90 though!

What do you think? Will you be picking anything up from this collection?

Thanks

Orly launching in Topshop this month

So this month Orly will be launching in Topshop with their Mini Feel the Vibe Trio which retails for £13.00 for 3 x 5.3ml polishes.  The set features this summers Neon Trend with a stunning bright Pink (Beach Cruiser), a flouroscent green (Glow Stick - very approriate name!) and a vibrant orange (Melt your Popsicle).

I love Orly polishes and you can see our previous posts here, and these are no exception.  I love the whole Neon trend but other than possibly trying out a few accessories I'm a bit too much of a wimp to try anything else, so these would be perfect.  I so need Beach Cruiser!

George Nail Polish

Today's new post is on some new polishes from George (Asda).
The shades are Cupcake, Berry Smoothie and Spaceman.
Here is what Asda say about the new shades,
'Stand out from the crowd with Molten Metal nail varnishes from Asda. Sweep this high pigment polish over your nails for acreamy metallic finish and high gloss appearance. In addition, check out the 14 new shades of George’s Quick Dry nail polish range for a fun and flirty finish. Colours include Berry Smoothie, Cupcake and Giggle.'
Berry Smoothie is a great mauve brown shade which I know many will love! This will be a great work day shade for me.

I was exoecting Cupcake to be more pink but this has a coral base to it. It's an interesting shade but it does not suit my skin tone.

Spaceman is from the Molten Metal nail polishes. I don't tend to wear this sort of shade but it really does have that metal finish. No matter what I did you seem to get that brush effect finish to it. If you are looking to try a metal finish nail polish than these would be worth a look.

The other shades of the Molten Nail Vanish are Spaceman, Chalice, Pirate, Enchanted and Party Animal all pictured.

The Quick Dry Nail polishes are £1.75 and the New Molten Nail polishes are £2.75. For the price George nail polishes are well worth a look, they apply well and easily. All the above were 2 coats and the finish is great. I will be getting a lot of use out of Berry Smoothie it's lovely.

You can see our other George posts here.

Are you a fan of George nail polishes? What is your favourite shade?

Thanks
