Collection 2000 Colour Match Foundation in Ivory 1

Today's post is on Collection 2000 Colour Match foundation in Ivory 1.

Here is what they say,

'- Contains a unique skin tone technology that adapts to the skin's natural tone to help deliver a subtle, flawless look that lasts.

- SPF20 to keep you safe against those harmful UV rays.

- Available in 6 shades, whether you want to be a bronzed beauty or a porcelain doll.'

The consistency is quite runny and the coverage is Light/medium. The foundation applies well and but is more suited to oily\combination skin. I have a tendency to get a dry nose and this did make it appear worse. Once applied the finish is dewy. This ticks a lot of boxes for me but still isn't my perfect foundation.

For the range being called colour match I wasn't expecting a great choice of shades but 6 isn't bad. But these 6 fall across a small spectrum of colours which is a shame. I ended up with Ivory but I might look at Light as well.

The colour is very dark against my skin tone.

But it does blend in well which was a bit if a surprise as its looks so dark above. But unfortunately it is still too dark for me. But below you can see the dewy finish.

Here is a swatch compared to my other foundations, as you can see its very dark considering it's called light. Though as you can see above its blends well but once on its totally the wrong shade for me. Maybe if the sun ever comes out I might just get away with it.

If this foundation as a better skin match I think I would be very happy but unfortunately it's not the case. But if you are not too pale or dark certainly take a look as its value for money. It would also make a nice summer foundation as it leaves your skin looking dewy and the coverage is light. But unfortunately mine hasn't been used.

Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup 1CN1

It's actually taken me a while to do this post, but today's post is on Estée Lauder's Invisible fluid foundation. Estée Lauder use the line 'See no makeup, Feel no makeup' for this foundation. It sounded like something I would like!

I popped along to my local counter in Debenhans to be colour matched and was given 1CN1.

Now as you can see colour wise this is not right at all. But this is a common problem I have with nearly all foundations. But even when the MA matched me to this shade inspire I could see it was too dark yet she kept saying what a good match it was. Thank the lord for samples!!!

The foundation is extremely light in consistency and quite runny. The finish is between sheer to medium and I feel it leaves my skin looking satin leaning to matte. Overall if the colour was right I think I would be a fan.

On the pic below the colour actually looks ok but in natural light you can certainly see its too dark.

I thought I would show you the swatch next to my other pale foundations.

Missha BB Cream No13

Today's post is on Missha Perfect Cover BB cream in No 13 Milky Beige.
Now I wasn't fully aware of BB creams until recently, and for you who don't know what they are here's some more information.
'BB cream, also known as Blemish Balm, Blemish Base or Beblesh Balm, is a cosmetic item sold mainly in East and Southeast Asia, although larger beauty brands are increasingly transferring BB creams to European markets as well.


BB creams come in a variety of different formulations and qualities mainly perceived as being anti-inflammatory, regenerative and having a soothing effect. Some are said to have skin whitening or brightening properties. Others are said to be anti-acne or anti-wrinkle, some are intended to even out skin tone, and yet others to lighten blemish scars.'
Most BB creams also contains spf which is a great bonus, Missha has spf 42.

After seeing lots of different BB creams around I decided to try Missha Perfect Cover, after looking at swatches I settled on no 13.
I purchased mine from ebay for around £6.50 with postage for 20ml, you can see options here.

The consistency is very similar to my Liz Earle skin tint, you can see that review here. This is not as moisturising as I expect it to be, I feel Liz Earle is better. It doesn't feel heavy or too greasy which is nice as I had a feeing that could be an issue.

Colour wise the match is great, you can see the swatches below.

I love how this applies to my skin, the colour match and coverage. But oddly I don't think it lasts great. I also don't feel it cover my blemish or dark circles that well either. But maybe I was expecting too much. Though this will be a foundation I repurchase as at the moment I would miss this in my collection.

Foundation for Pale Girls

L and myself have always had a love hate relationship with Foundation. Mainly because those on the high street don't usually cater for our skin tone. The palest tend to be too orange or dark on us. I understand why they don't cater for everyone...its just not cost effective. But its still annoying!

We are always on the look out for new range and lighter shades, you can see our previous Foundation posts here. Currently below are the foundation I have on the go. From L to R we have Bourjois 10 hour Sleep effect in shade 71, Boots No 7 Lift & Luminate in Alabaster, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in Porcelain, Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint in Fair, sample of Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H in 005 Beige Ivoire (review coming soon) and lastly Missha BB Cream in No 13 (review coming soon). Below these are swatched in the same order as above.

As you can see all the shades are quite different, ranging from pinky to yelow. And this is the biggest issue we have you can't always get the pale shade in the right tone for your skin.

At the moment I am switching between Liz Earle (sometimes too heavy), Bobbi Brown, Missha BB Cream and the new Lancome Teint Idole (too matte). But I am still not completely happy with the shades. I think shade wise I prefer Liz Earle, Bobbi Brown and Missha BB Cream, which is odd as in the swatches above Liz Earle seems a bit more yellow toned which I don't like.

Bobby Brown Skin Foundation in Porcelain

Now as I write this post I am still not completely sure I have made up my mind on this foundation. The foundation is question is Bobby Brown Skin Foundation in Porcelain.
Here is what Booby Brown says,
'A truly modern foundation that offers invisible, weightless coverage that looks like skin, not makeup. This long-wearing formula evens tone, minimises the appearance of pores, conceals imperfections, and offers broad spectrum UV protection. Its hydrating technology leaves skin feeling cushioned, comfortable, and clean. Ideal for combination, normal and normal to dry skins.'
The foundation is available in 18 shades, a colour for everyone, they cost £29.00 for 30ml,and contains SPF 15.

I mainly wanted to try this foundation as L has tried the Moisture Rich Foundation in Alabaster. She said that this was close to being here holy grail foundation except she felt it was a little dark. I popped along to my Bobby Brown Counter in John Lewis and asked to be matched. I decided that I liked the skin foundation more and was colour matched to porcelain so a shade darker than L. I though this was a little odd but as the assistant said each of their foundations are slightly different shades.

I think the colour is a great match.

The foundation is a light to medium coverage, the foundation is very thin and a little goes a long way. It just helps to give my skin a boast and stops it looking tired. You can see it on below.

As it is lightweight and not a heavy coverage if you have blemish (which I do get) you need a good concealer. I find the foundation is best when your skin is a bit more blemish free. And I think this is way I can't make up my mind on this. When my skin is good I love this on, when isn't isn't I don't.

I have been considering picking up another Bobby Brown Foundation that has heavier coverage. L and myself struggle so much to find foundation shades that match our skin and this is prefect so I would like to persist, but really they are expensive to own one for good days and one bad days. But I was tempted to go back and try the Moisture Rich, Natural Finish Long Lasting or Luminous Moisturizing and hope they worked better on my bad days.

Healthy Mix Foundation

I've already talked about the new serum formula of this foundation, so as I already own this one I thought I should really share my opinion on it!

Bourjois is one of the few high-street/drugstore brands that's pale enough for me to use which is great and I've been using 10 hour Sleep Effect for a while and regularly repurchase. This is number 51, the lightest of the range.

The Health Mix Foundations contains fruit extracts which are supposed to boost the skins radiance and help improve the overall appearance:

• Apricot - Radiance
• Melon - Hydration
• Apple - Anti-oxidant
• Ginger - Energy

I love the coverage I get and it blends in well, but I personally think you need to moisturise well in the morning as it can settle in any dry patches. I apply a little on to a stipple brush and buff in.

Downsides - it's not as light as the 10 hour Sleep Effect and I prefer the texture and consistency of the Serum version. I also don't really notice much in the way of improvement to my skin.

It's a good foundation but I think it's better for normal/oily skin types as it really doesn't suit mine - definitely try theSerum version if you suffer from drier skin.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

This is my new foundation love - I love the original Healthy Mix, but I much prefer the texture of the Serum (just noted that I haven't reviewed the original oops! I'll get a review done this week).

The foundation itself promises to simply 're-boost' your complexions vitality.

It contains 3 super fruits - Lychee, Goji and Pomegranate, which Bourjois state will,

'enhance the skin through repeated applications thanks to it's super-action:

- an instant, revitalising effect

- a refreshing and light sensation

- radiance boosting shades

- and a uniform, revived complexion lasting 16 hours'

Regardless of the benefits, for me, I just LOVE the gel texture. It's so light and refreshing on my skin and blends in so easily. I tend to use a stippling brush or a beauty blender sponge, although I find it just as easy to use my fingers.

I suffer from a lot of dry skin on my nose and I found that the texture really prevented it from clinging in any of the dry patches.

It's available in 6 shades and I'm wearing 51 Vanilla which is the lightest - Bourjois is one of the few brands on the high street that I can actually purchase foundation from given the shades available. Have to admit that I do think the range is limited for Asian and Darker skin tones.

Overall I love the texture and ease of application, and the end result is a lovely glowing finish. It sits very naturally on my skin which is perfect for me. I'd say it's medium coverage and for some they may find that it doesn't give them enough coverage, although for me it covers any redness I have and helps cover any blemishes - any heavier and I would just feel that it was too cakey on my skin. Oh and even better it smells so refreshingly fruit.

The foundation is out now, priced at £10.99.

MAC Matchmaster Foundation

I've always wanted to try a MAC foundation but even the NC15 and NW15 are too dark for me, so I've never had the opportunity. they just don't stock a good range for the fair people out there. However on my little trip to Debenhams last week I was advised that MAC had released a new foundation in a different range of shades.

MAC Matchmaster Foundation:

New foundation technology using translucent pigments to enable a fully personalised finish influenced by subtleties of your own skin's undertone. Moisturising demi-matte finish. Medium buildable coverage. Line reducing soft focus powers

The shades range from 1.0 being the lightest up to 10.0 being the darkest, with a total of 14 shades. It's a described as a virtually invisible foundation, but falls into the medium coverage. It seemed perfect. I tried out the palest colour in Shade 1.0 in store and even though it seemed a perfect match I wanted to try it out at home.

Have to admit I'm in LOVE! The foundation feels amazing on, it blends in perfectly and feels nice and light whilst at the same time providing great coverage. It also lasts amazing well - the bottom picture for example is taken after about 7 hours of wear without a primer -impressed.

Even got compliments about my skin.

I've tried a number of pale foundations over the years yet this is the first that my mum has actually commented on - 'nicest foundation I've seen on you'.

I've never found such an amazing match for my skin tone before from a high end brand.

What more do you need from a foundation???

Roll on payday - I'm off to get a bottle. So worth £24.50, this stuff is amazing.

Bobby Brown Moisture Rich Foundation

Foundation is not a product I ever really enjoy buying or wearing. Obviously both me and K are pale skinned, so tend to find that most foundation is either too pink and too yellow toned for us. Personally I also suffer from dry skin, and find that most foundation tends to make my nose look dry and flaky.

However this is very close to a HG for me.

I picked it up in 00 Alabaster - the lightest in the range. It's a very close match, but I do sometimes feel as thought it's a little dark for me.

It blends in very well and doesn't make my skin look dry at all - although I would expect this given its name.

It doesn't sit on my skin and look like a mask, which is of course another plus. I want good coverage but I don't want to look as though I'm wearing a mask.

Overall I love the finish that I get, and with a little primer help it tends to last around 8-10 hours. Although it can go a little shiny come late afternoon, but it is a very moisturising foundation so I can't really complain.

Now the downside - it's pricey! It set me back £26.00, which although it's lasted me ages so far I don't think it's really worth it when I'm not too sure about the colour match.

I love everything else about the foundation so really need to find an alternative.
