Lovely Lanolips

Well I have finally given in and brought a Lanolips lip balm. Now if you are a regular reader you'll know both L and myself are lip balm addicts. But I have held off buying Lanolips, mainly due to the price. But I had a Boots vouchers so finally gave in.

I just decided to get the Lanolips 101 Ointment but there are colour options available as well. I picked mine up in Boots for £11.22, for a 17.5g tube.
Here is some more information on Lanolips,
'*Multi-Award Winning* Rediscover the magic of lanolin in this heavy-duty, 100% natural ointment like no other. Lanolips 101 Ointment is the purest of pure wonder ointment, made with Lanolips' exclusive 100% Ultra Pure Grade Lanolin.

This ultimate luxuriously creamy ointment contains 100% Ultra Pure Grade Lanolin which literally melts between your fingers. This magical multi-purpose product has multiple uses such as extremely chapped lips, dry cuticles, dry, itchy skin, dry nasal passages and more. Suitable for even the most sensitive skin.'

I had heard lots in the blogging world about these, so was very excited to try mine out.

Now this first appears to be very boring, its not scented and non coloured...it is just a balm as you can see below. But it is a wonder balm as it says above you can use it for anything. After two days of using it my lips felt amazing! I couldn't believe it, I have also seen people mentioning using it for cuticles and dry patches etc.

Its lovely and thick but non sticky, you only need a tiny amount and it melts into your lips. But...(there is always a but) I find it very difficult to squeeze out of the tube, especially on a cold day. The product is super thick and begins to melt and become more workable once on your fingers or lips. But I do have to give it a good squeeze sometimes to be able to get any out...thank god a little bit goes a long way.

The ingredients of this are also wonderful...its 100% ultra pure grade lanolin. For those who would like some more information on Lanolin, you can see here. Lanolin come from wool- bearing sheep, and is a wax like substance.

The product is also:

  • 100% pure

  • 100% Natural Ingredients

  • 100% Fragrance free

  • 100% colour free

  • Vegetarian & baby friendly

  • Animal cruelty free

On the lips.

I would look at repurchasing, even at the price, as I love what its done for my lips!

Are you a Lanolips fan?

Thanks

Dr Balm

You may have previously noticed that myself and L love a lip balm, it can range from tinted to plain to scent...we don't mind which. Today's post is on another little tinted lipbalm I picked up, it Dr Balm from Miss Sporty.

I originally spotted this on Beauty's Bad Habit Blog, and I knew I had to take a look. I picked up Sweet, which is a light sheer pink. They are available in five shades Glam (bright pink), Gossip (slight orange tone), Heartbreaker (red), Honeymoon (looks dark red/pink). First of you'll probably notice that this is not in a trendy or nice packaging. They just look like retro lip balms. Miss sporty describe them as 'a healing moisturising balm with a hint of colour.' The texture is very light so I wouldn't see they were great if you are suffering with really dry lips. But as an everyday balm its good. As you can see below the swatch is very sheer. Which again I like as you can just apply on the run.

On the lips below again you can see it just gives a subtle wash of colour.

So far I am liking this and would be tempted to look at the other shades again. I also like the sort of watermelon scent, but i know not everyone will. I already own a sheer Miss Sporty lipstick which has a similar smell so i don't mind it.

You can see our previous lip balm posts here.

What do you think?

Thanks

Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm

I have a massive lip balm problem, I have previously mentioned my Lip Balm Love. I carry one in everything, they are in my bedside table and in my desk draw at work. Though I just like a standard lip balm when I look for a lipstick I tend to go for tinted or sheer lipsticks so when I spotted these I had to have them!
These are Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm in Sheer Pink and Sheer Peach.

What Carmex say,

'With a little help from vitamin E and aloe, Carmex Moisture Plus™ lip balm helps nourish and moisturize lips leaving them so kissably soft they will be hard to resist. With SPF 15, Carmex Moisture Plus protects your lips from the sun so you can play all day and know you’re covered.'

These retails at around £4.49 and now come in Clear, Sheer Pink, Sheer Peach, Sheer Berry and Sheer Plum. As I said I choose Pink and Peach,
The packaging is nothing amazing but I don't mind it, though it is easier to use then the Carmex tubs. From the image above the colours do look quite pigmented, and below you can see they actually give a nice wash of colour. Its much more than I expected from them.

The pink is on the left with the peach on the right. From the swatches I love the peach and on the lips its the same. Here is the pink,

and here is the peach.

These have a similar smell to the original Carmex and gives you a similar tingle on your lips. I love how you can just pop them on quickly for a wash of colour. They also contain shea butter to help your lips now in the winter season. These are nourishing on and would be a great addition your handbag.

Have you tried these?

Thanks

Palmer's Lip Butter

On this blog, the pair of us have a Lip balm addiction! Just can't get enough haha!

K was brave enough to show part of hers off, in a previous post. I haven't been yet. Just looking around my desk whilst I'm typing this in work sssshhh, I found 3 on my desk, 2 in my draws and another 2 in my bag - why I need all these I don't know?? But hey if there is a global lip balm crisis tomorrow I'm prepared hahah.

So like I said I already have loads, but then I saw this!

I love Palmers Cocca Body Butter, so I though oooohhh what would this be like. What made it even better was that it was Dark Choc and Peppermint, yum!

So of course I purchased it!

Firstly, the tub is squeezy and what I liked was that its not a balm but a butter. It goes on more like a gloss and it does add a glossy finish to my lips, which is an added bonus. I find that the butter really helps to soften my lips without the weird feeling I get with balms.

My favourite thing though, is the smell! OMG its like mint choc chip on your lips, its AMAZING.

Definitely going to be a permanent fixture in my bag, as this along with my Softlips has worked wonders this week on my horrible chapped lips.

New Love - Softlips

So the after our post on Lip Balm Love! Someone asked what were our favourites and even though this wasn't included in the original post, this is my current favourite.

I found it in Superdrug the other day and I love it! Its the usual twist up stick balm, its goes on nice and smooth and instantly my lips feel better. And weirdly for me I actually love the smell. -its French Vanilla and very yummy!!

Now as you can see in the picture its not biggest of balms and the tub is very thin, but its the perfect size for putting on.

and to make things even better its got SPF 20, which even though its cold its still good to be wearing for protection on them cold clear days! So for £1.79 from Superdrug I really recommend checking them out.

Lip Balm Love!!!

Firstly I apologise for the photos in today's post, I broke my camera on Honeymoon in Sept and these are just off my iphone.
I have found a new love in my life and it is Vaseline Lip Therapy in Cocoa Butter!!! I have currently brought myself the stick version but I know I'll end up getting the pocket size tin as well. I got mine from Superdrug for £1.99.

This has a nice smell and I always like Vaseline as it doesn't taste funny (if you end up licking a bit off you lips). I have been using it for 24hrs and its already working miracles on my lips, (I get very dry/chapped lips) .I love the Lip Therapy range which now include Original, Aloe Vera, Cocoa Butter and Rosy Lips. I don't currently own the Rosy Lips but I do keep meaning to get one!

As I was showing you this one I thought I'd mention some other favs that I have. I do have a problem with lip balms and will usually have a good two on me at all times. When it came to doing this post I couldn't find some of them to photograph as I didn't want to go through all my bags! So these are the ones I did manage to find.

Vaseline Lip Therapy with Aloe Vera: I do quite like this but sometimes the tin versions are a bit messy when you are out and about! Also I am not as keen on the scent of this version either. But it does help my dry lips so this lives in my bedside table.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream: I got this off ebay and mainly only use it for my lips. I will put it on to go to bed and the next morning they'll feel great. I like the smell of this but again its not practical when I'm out and about, but you don't have to use much at all so this pot will last me ages.

Elemis Lip Revive: I got this 5ml tester off L, it contains Olive and Beeswax, it is also petroleum-free. It has a peppermint smell which I do quite like in a lip balm. I have only tried this a couple of times but I've still not made my mind up on it yet, but I will keep going.

Burt's Bees: Now I have 3 versions of this at the moment Original Beeswax lip Balm which has a minty aroma, Honey Lip Balm, Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil. Now I think the honey version works best for me but I do find the smell a bit overpowering of honey, again these live in my bedside table and handbags. Burt's Bees have now got even more flavours lip balms which you can see here and now have shimmers and glosses which you can see here.
Rose & Co Apothecary: This is the Rose Petal Salve which I love, you don't have to just use on lips either it will help dry patches and rough skin. It retails at roughly £5 and has a lovely aroma, I have to admit however that I do mainly use it on my lips, as it gives a gorgeous sheen. This is a handbag salve for me, though I don't always like them in a tin (messy fingers) I like the scent and how my lips look with it on.
Yes to Carrots: I mentioned these here the other day for you.

Lip Balms are one of my winter essentials, I can't be without one ever! Let me know if you recommend anymore to try or to just add to me collection?

Hunt for a Sheer Lip Balm

I have spent most of the summer hunting for a sheer lip balm, I had in my mind that I wanted a shimmery pink lip balm I could use for my wedding (I got married 2months ago) or for everyday day!

My fav’s are Models Own in Ballet Pink and Yes to Carrots Lip Tint in Cotton Candy Pink and Coral Sunshine.

Model's Own in Ballet Pink
I got the Model’s Own in Ballet Pink from their website for £5, I love the colour it's a lovely sheer shade of light pink, its really moisturising and I actually like the sweetish smell.

Yes to Carrots

The other two I love are Yes or Carrots Lip Tints, you if you want to find out more you can visit there site. I got my two from ASOS for £5 each. From the website:

"Paraben Free—Cruelty Free—Natural, organic skin, hair and lip care. Taking care of our environment AND making you beautiful"

These are great to have in my handbag to just pop on! They have a minty flavour and both are shimmery, they were rubbish to swatch due to sheer consistency! They also do other lip items which I’m going to look at getting on the website and ASOS.
