MUA Juicy

Today's post is on MUA Juicy.

MUA lipsticks are a bargain price if a £1 so well worth a look. The quality of MUA products always surprises me, there blushes and eyeshadow palettes are staples for me now.

First off the colour is gorgeous its pigmented yet a sheer pastel peach/pink. As soon as I did a swatch on my hand I had to have it. I am not always a fan of bright lipstick (I do not like my lips) but this had the bright but not too bright and sheer effect I love.

But I am not a fan of the consistency on my lips you need perfectly soft lips to wear this and I just don't. So it ends up sitting on my dry patches which is annoying. So as I love the colour I have been applying over lip balm which seems to do the trick.

I need to go and take a look at MUA again as there as some more items I would love to try like the Undressed palette (dupe for UD Naked palette), New Cream Blusher, their new nail polish shades and BB Cream.

MUA Blusher in Shade 2

As you have probably noticed both myself and L love a bargain product. MUA's range was originally launching with every product for £1, they have since included a MUA professional range with slightly dearer products.

I had heard good things on the blushers from the original range so eventually I remembered to take a look at the shades available. I settled on Shade 2 after switching them.

Here's what MUA say about there blushers,

'Part of our amazing £1 line, our blushers come in six shades. They range from pink and coral to deeper plums and natural nudes so you’ll definitely find one that suits you the most! Although to be honest with you, at £1 there’s no reason why you shouldn’t own all six! Just simply sweep across the apples of the cheek and up to the brow bone to create a soft yet beautiful contour. Gorge!'

This is such a gorgeous easy to wear shade and soooo pigmented. (though pic below makes it look brighter than it is).

The swatch below is just one swipe.

It's a lovely pink shade that is lovely for an everyday look, it also contains tiny shimmer.

The positives are the price a £1 is such a bargain and the pigmentation is unreal. There is only 6 shades but they have varied the colours. My only negative is that the powder is so soft that you need to be very careful with it as it would break easily.


This has become my new favourite and I ave now worn it for 2 weeks straight!

Heaven & Earth

I know the MUA Heaven & Earth Palette has been around the blogsphere loads but here is another post on it.

So the palette is available from Superdrug and retails at £4 (an absolute bargain!). For you £4 you receive a palette of 10 highly pigmented eyeshadows. I know people have said these palette are good and I own some on the MUA single eyeshadows...but the pigmentation is fantastic.

I actually own the Naked Palette and I do love mine, but I was still drawn to pick this up. You can see swatches and the palette in more detail below.

The swatches are just one swipe...amazing.

This palette is lovely but I haven't used it much at all and have still continued to use my Naked Palette as the colours in the MUA palette are warmer toned and the Naked seem cooler toned. I seem to suit the cooler tones better.

The shadows are lovely and soft and blend easily you could make a great day or night look with this. It's also nice that there are a good choice of shades for highlighting. I particularly like the first pale good shade. I am not sure everyone would be happy with a whole palette of shimmery or metallic shades. Some would probably want a matte shade.

MUA Nail Polish

L has previously reviewed and shown you some products from the MUA range at Superdrug which you can catch-up here. Now for a £1 I had wanted to get a couple of the nail varnishes to try but only ended up with these 4 first. I've had them for a while really, but thought I would show you some swatches now as I think these would be good for A/W and the Christmas season.



The four I have got are shade 1 which is dark navy, shade 2 black, shade 13 green, and shade 8 which is red. I have to say the black and navy are my favourite of the four colours. They are colours I am more likely to wear!

I have tried to show you swatches above which were just taken on my iPhone with and without the flash. The black, navy and red were 3 coats to get a nice even colour but the green took 4 coats and I am still not really happy with it. It still doesn't seem opaque enough and out of the four this is a bit runny. These are easy too apply, as the lid is easy to hold and the brush is a good size.

The Black (Shade 2) and the Red (Shade 8) have both got a great finish and after 3 coats looked really great with a lovely opaque finish. The Navy (Shade 1) is such an amazing shade, it is really dark but has tiny blue glitter so it come out with a lovely sparkly finish. The green has a metallic finish but it is very watery and goes on very thin. I probably won't use it again as it is paler then I was hoping for.

For a £1 I think these are value for money, even though the bottle is small. I'm now looking to pick up some of the brighter and pastel shades for spring! I also think that the Nail polish and the Eyeshadow's are the best part of this range and are worth the £1. I am not particularly a fan of the lipsticks but L does have some which she likes.

Search for a Gorgeous Red Nail Varnish

Right I have been on a hunt for a red nail varnish recently, now I do want it more red than burgundy and at the moment I am struggling to get a colour I love! Before I go and buy anymore I thought I would show you what I already have and a suggestion from L, hopefully you could help me.

Now again my photo's are not great and this post is a bit picture heavy. Also as I didn't want to keep taking all the reds off my nails I have used some false nails for the pictures (hate the staining).

Below are the reds I already have:

(l-r Rimmel Hot Gossip, Nails Inc/Diet Coke Milan, MUA shade 8, OPI The Thrill of Brazil, George no.53 Shock)

From the colours above, I would my fave is the George at Asda, as I really like the colour (with it being a bit darker). But below is each of the colours seperately

First up is Rimmel Wear Maxx in Hot Gossip, I have used 2 coats on the nail, the brush is easy to use and the varnish dried quickly. This is a lovely colour but I'm not sure if it suits my colouring very well, but I do like it as it has a slight sparkle to it as well. Also Rimmel tend to be one of my favourite polishes as I find they last well on me and the price is good.

Second is a freebie I got from Nails Inc with Diet Coke, the colour is Milan. Now I have to admit that I've not used this polish yet! I used two coats and I have to say it didn't go on great (I think that is down to the brush).

Third up is MUA in shade 8, this is from the bargain range in Superdrug. I picked up a couple of these polishes and so did L. You do really need to use 3 coats to get a nice opaque finish. Now I really like this colour as it is a bit darker than the first two but it is poor to use on my finger nails as it is a bit watery, I think I will keep for my toes.

Fourth up in a OPI polish I got about 2 years ago for a black and red themed night I went on. This shade is The Thrill of Brazil and I used 2 coats to get the lovely opaque finish. Now I love OPI for their colour choice and the fact that they are so easy to apply and I find I always get a nice finish with them, and they last well. Lastly we have another bargain polish from George (currently £1) in Shock. This again is not the best polish to apply but I did only use 2 coats for this, I love this colour as once again, its darker which I think suits me more and has a hint of sparkle which I love!!

So out of the collection I already have, OPI is definitely the best to apply but for me the George polish is the colour I prefer. What do you think?

Now L has given me a picture of a red she likes, this is from the Rimmel scented range in Cranberry. Now she likes the smell but I'm not sure about having a nail varnish that smells fruity. What are your thoughts? I do think the colour is lovely on her.

If you could suggest any colours/ranges to try I would appreciate it?

MUA Shade 4

Like a lot of other people out there, I got a little excited when Superdrug announced that they would be stocking a £1 makeup range. I have to admit however that it didn't really wow me - not quite sure what I was expecting for a £1 but a lot of the range did look a little cheap (once again I know its only a £1 but the Lip gloss I picked up broke within 2 days of having it!).

However I have really liked a few bits, in particular the Lipstick in Shade 4. It looks quite a bright pink but it goes on sheer as you can see below

I love the colour and because of the sheer nature of the lipstick it makes it a perfect everyday lipstick and for a £1 its amazing!

Lipstick Shout Outs!!

Hey again...

Very busy on the blogging so far this morning haha!!

I just wanted to show some love to a new lipstick I have recently tried alongside one I use all the time.

Like many of you out there, I have recently found the new MUA range at Superdrug and pretty much went wild and bought every product haha!! One I have been wearing all weekend though is a pretty lipstick in shade 2. Its a stunning deep purpley pink which can be seen here ...

Alone, it can be a teeny bit too dry for me, so I have been mixing it with my favourite lipstick - the beautiful Estee Lauder Pure Colour in Crystal Baby...

Crystal baby is a really pretty light pink. It's slightly glossy and I love it because it isn't drying on my lips. In fact, its the kind of colour I look for in a lipgloss but can never find! Using it as a base for the MUA in shade 2 I found that the colour that I got is still a pinky purple, but that it's more like an intense girlie pink yet still quite natural. I found that it was slightly more flattering as the colour was not as dark and still managed to make me look a little more made up than the crystal baby because it highlights the edges of your lips, so that you don't need lip liner. I liked it because it made my lips look more defined, but the colour wasn't so intense that I felt like a fool wearing it!

I will definately be wearing it again and think it's a very good colour given that it only cost me £1.00. It's by far been the best MUA purchase I have made as some of the other colours I have not been as keen on.

I am going to try mixing some of my other lipsticks with my Crystal Baby lipstick and let you know how I get on - it really does seem to be working as a really good base colour!

Giddy Princess

MUA at Superdrug

Now like a lot of people I was quite excited at the prospect of Superdrugs £1 MUA range, so when Giddy Princess and myself spotted it in our local store we were beyond thrilled!!!!

We both spent a purse friend £10 and I came away with the items below......

and for those of you who have counted by purchase....yes there is eleven. I couldn't help going back for the blusher hehe!

Eyeshadow

I picked up shades 4 pearl, 18 matte and 17 matte. The pigment in the first two are really good and shade 17 is just a nice natural beige colour. The stay quite well, although I do think that they could do with an eyeshadow primer if you want them to last longer than say the average working day. I don't really apply primer myself and I did find that I had lost a lot of the colour by mid-afternoon. For the price I would pick up these up again and will possibly try some of the other shades - although I would realistically only be using them for work everyday......which is fine given the price.

Blusher




Firstly I apologise for my white freckly arm haha....it had to be done!!!

The blusher is shade 1 which is a nice pinky colour - its looks quite bright but it does go on ok (you dont look like you belong in the 80's!!). Been wearing this for a few days now - i do like this and I do think its going to be a product I use quite regularly.
(I do feel that I need to use a bit of my Benefit Dandelion powder over the top just as a bit of highlighter throughout the day).

Lipstick and Lip Gloss

I picked up a lipstick in shade 7 and the gloss in shade 3, both have a red/pink tone to them and I really love them both. I do have a problem with the lipstick as the texture is not that great (I'm not a huge fan of lipsticks anyway - I mainly wear gloss). It starts to feel bitty after a while and the colour doesn't have much staying power. I don't think I would be buying this again and it's not something I'm going to be using all that much as I would probably need to put a bit of gloss over the top of it. I do LOVE the gloss however, I found that its not too sticky and really like the colour once its on......definitely would purchase this again however.............

...the lid broke this morning!!!! How annoying!?! - it still fastens but its now a nightmare trying to use. Shame really cos I do think this is something I would be using everyday.

Overall I really wanted to love this range cos of the price but I think its really a case of you get what you paid for with a few of the products. I will properly only try some of the eye-shadows and lip glosses again.

I haven't yet tried out the nail varnishes...
so I'll review these later.
