Illamasqua Lament

Hey,

Just wanted to show you a new purchase I made. I have never owned anything from Illamasqua before, but you can see see previous reviews on the products L has here.

When I was in London recently with L we popped into the Beak Street Store and I saw Lament and knew I had to have it! Illamasqua nail polishes retail at £13.50 for 15ml...so not cheap! What Illamasqua say;
'Leave your mark with bold, rich, vibrant colours. Hard wearing and chip-resistant with individual finishes from matt to high gloss. Apply two coats for intensity and use with Illamasqua Nail Base Coat and Illamasqua Nail Top Coat for the perfect finish. Talk with your hands and make a statement.'
Lament is a bright glossy coral pink, and it really caught me eye in the store. Though it was difficult to decide on a colour to get you can see the other shades available here.

I have applied two coats for the swatch below and it did apply very well.
This is certainly a fun bright shade.

This has made me want to look at getting some more colours, I have me eyes on Propaganda, Faux Pas and Vice (from the new Theatre of the Nameless Collection), Raindrops, Eclipse, Muse and Baptiste. Feel free to link me to any of your swatches if you have any of these?

Have you tried Illamasqua before? Do you have a favourite product?

Thanks

Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Phenomena

I actually picked this up a while ago and not really got around to using it - as usual!

This is part of the liquid metal range and is a metallic cream. Illamasqua state that this can be:

'Use to adorn eyes, face and body, and apply with fingers or a brush. Release your inhibitions and illuminate your alter ego'

Ok so I loved it at the counter, but wasn’t really sure when I got home really.

Firstly, it's so the wrong colour for me to use as a highlighter - I would definitely need something a little warmer on my skin.

As an eyeshadow I'm not entirely convinced either. Once I had it on, it took a while to dry and just creased. Also it just not very pigmented - which is a big shock for me with Illamasqua products. You can see in the pictures that it hardly even shows up when swatched on my hand.

I think its ok as a base but still nothing special and still took a while to set.

Overall there's not much more to say about it, I was really disappointed. I don't know whether I should have really tried for a different colour - quite drawn to Surge on the
website.

NOTD - Illamasqua Jomina

Absolutely loving Illamasqua polishes at the moment. They're all such strong colours and so different to other brands.

This is Jomina - described as an Electric Lilac,

I think the description is spot on and I love the colour. Probably not a very autumn colour, but I'm not always too concern with that. Love it on a night out.

I applied two coats and finished with a top coat. Out of all the Illamasqua polishes I own this is the only one that has a tendency to go streaky, but that's more due to the colour I think. Hasn't put me off it yet though.

So what do you think?

Any recommendations for my next Illamasqua polish purchase?

Forgotten Illamasqua and MAC Birthday purchases

Ok so I'm a bit rubbish and managed to miss two of my birthday purchases!

I picked up an Illamasqua Sheer Gloss in Rousse and MAC Frost Lipstick in Angel

Love both of these colours! Both just look so cute on - would point out though that the Illamasqua Sheer Gloss in more pink than it looks here (would say it was more a candy pink).

The Gloss isn't sticky at all (which is why I have such an addiction to these glosses) and smells so sweet and edible.

Angel is actually my first MAC lipstick and I love it. It looks very natural on, so its perfect for everyday.

All in all, very happy with my purchases.

Illamasqua Intense Lip Gloss

As you know we love our Intense Lipglosses from Illamasqua on this this blog so I had to share my recent purchase with you in shade "Move"

I love this colour, it's very wearable. The only thing I would say is that it is described as a deep purple and looks deep purple on their website. It's just not like that at all on me and it was a similar colour to the above on the MUA too!! Weird.

It's not as intense as some of the other colours I have tried but I like that I can wear this everyday and save the more vibrant ones for weekends and partying!

Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Bright Hot Pink

Ok, so I have had this lipgloss for ages but with it being summer time I re-discovered it this weekend.

So being the giddy blogger that I am I thought I just have to share it with you all for two reasons:-
1. Because it is truly an AMAZING colour and
2. Because it once again highlights how good Illamasqua products can be.

Definitely THE perfectly named "hot pink" summer gloss!! What I love about this so much is that it doesn't budge at all. I spend most night's out topping up my gloss/lippie all night and this just stays put. I love it!!! Not only does it stay in place but the colour remains as bright for as long as you have it on.

I checked out Illamasqua's other colours in there Intense Lipgloss and they are all fab (you will have seen L's post on her Intense Lipgloss in Frenzy) And the best bit - they are only £12.50, which considering how long they last, is a bargain. I plan on upping my collection considerably over the next few months!!!

Illamasqua Liquid Fluid Foundation

I’ve been on a hunt for a foundation for a while. I’ve never had any success with one before – they all just tend to be a bit orangey once on, even though I’ve purchased the lightest shade. Sooo not what I’m looking for!

Up to the last year or so, I’ve just used a bit of concealer with powder and blusher. However I’ve never really been happy with the finished look – I end up looking cakey around my nose (and come 2pm I look like I never went through all the trouble of putting makeup on in the morning...one word rough!!!). And also just to make it all better I suffer from redness around my nose, which given my lovely fair complexion really shows up, so I really want a more even look. I’m also after what every other girl wants – staying powder!!! (God that sounds like a cheesy ad)

Anyway, so I’ve recently purchased Illamasqua Light Liquid Fluid Foundation in shade LF115 £21.00 (for very light skin haha....I’m that pale). This is one of their new products which is meant to (from the website)

‘The new Light Liquid Foundation is lightweight and
has a dewy finish. It has been designed to mimic
the skin’s natural look, whilst still covering blemishes’

I actually had this put on at the counter with Satin Primer underneath and loved it! And was really impressed with the selection of shades they stock - a lot better than most brands.

rubbed in
(appears quite white once rubbed in)

So couldn’t wait to give it a go at home.....

I was actually a little disappointed on my first go at home. The colour is perfect for me, even though it looks quite white on, it blends into me skin tone really well. But I really don’t want to use the term ‘Blends well’, as this is my big problem with the product, it doesn’t really blend well. It is a bit pasty and goes very patchy by my nose within a couple of hours of application and really needs to be re-applied by lunch :(. I don’t apply it with a primer, as I don’t currently have one...that’s the next job!, so I don’t know if that would help, so may give that a try. However I still think the same problems will occur.

My disappointment with the product has resulted in me returning back to Bourjois – 10hr Sleep effect, mixed with ELF’s Tinted moisturisers (reviews of both to follow shortly)after just 2 weeks, and given the prices of £8.99 and £1.50 these are substantially different in price from the £21.00.

Giddy Princess has also purchased the foundation - however I’m unsure whether this is the Light Liquid Foundation or the Rich Liquid Foundation, however she’s had the same difficulties ‘goes on like a paste, hard to blend and although it stays on all day it looks horrible on my skin’.

I really want to love this but just couldn’t......just so disappointed as I love their nail varnishes, lip gloss, lip sticks and eye-shadows, basically everything but the foundation :(

Has anybody else given the foundation ago? How have you got on? Any recommendations for primers that may help?

Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Frenzy

I'm absolutely loving this at the moment. Its soooo pigmented and has really good staying power. I already posted that I picked this up last week in the Trafford Centre however I didn't do any swatches, so I thought I would quickly post now

Couldn't really get my silly camera to pick up the colour very well without the flash. But with the flash I really think it shows the colour.

It goes on really smooth and has a nice creamy texture but not at all sticky like a normal gloss.

Only tip would be, dont just squeeze a alot on at once. I think the best way to apply it is slowly cos a little goes a long way. Really goes on thick otherwise.

Illamasqua Haul

Actually went to the Trafford Centre last week and forgot to post what I got. So thought I would do it quickly now.

Ended up at the Illamasqua counter.... which was so much fun as I got to have my whole makeup done!

I picked up Intense Lipgloss in Frenzy, Light Liquid foundation in LF115, and Obsess nail varnish.

Love the colour and texture of the gloss, I’m not a massive fan of lipsticks and I tend to struggle with finding the right colour, so this seems perfect. Its not just a plain gloss which I do tend to pick up alot of. It’s got really good staying power as well and although it does lose the glossiness the colour remains.

The varnish is gorgeous and so intense. I’ll post a NOTD up shortly.

I’ve been after a new foundation for ages and this is one thats been on my list to give a go. I’m very fair and find that even with most brands lightest shades I still tend to look abit orangey once its on. Oh and like everyone I do want staying power. Loved the fact that there is such a good choice of shades and this one a perfect shade for me. I’ve been wearing it since I got it and although the shade is perfect, I’m just not convinced about the finish once it on. It goes to look abit patchy by my nose which is sooo not a good look. At the moment I don’t use a primer (I’m on a desperate search for one at the moment) so I don’t know if this would make a difference. I’m going to keep giving it a go and see how I get on...
