Purity Organic Skincare

Today's post is on the lovely Purity Organic Skincare range.

First a bit of background - it's a Organic British Brand with all the products falling under £9.00.  At present there is a total of 7 (only 6 of the 7 shown above - they also stock both an anti-aging moisturiser and a simple facial moisturiser - I received the anti-aging one to try) with more to come.

I actually love the brands philosophy,

I've been trying to simplify my skincare regime lately as I feel that my skin is really not coping with a lot of brands and I've been looking at switching to some sort of more natural product, so this came at the perfect time.

Anti-Aging Moisturiser £7.99, Anti-Aging Serum and Mask £8.99 , Regenerating Overnight Moisturiser £7.99

Both the Anti-Aging Moisturiser  and the Regenerating Overnight Moisturiser appear thick and quite solid like in the tube, but once you remove a little it rubes in more like a balm type product.  I actually love the way the texture and feel of both.  The soak into my skin easily, leaving a a lovely non tacky hydrated finish.  Also given the nature of the moisturisers a little goes a very long way.  It's fantastic.

The Anti-Aging Serum and Mask has the normal gel/serum like texture. You can use this both as a a daily night time serum as well as a mask.  I found that for me I much prefer it as a mask as it lives my skin gorgeous soft the next day.

Now I'm on the wrong side of 25 so it's definitely not to early to start trying the anti-aging products, so I was more than happy to give the anti-aging moisturiser  and serum a go.  However I can't really say I've noticed much difference to my skin in respect of anti-aging as it's not like I've got any fine lines etc at the moment.

I have to say that the facial wash has been my least used product.  It's not something I've ever used and it just doesn't fit into my daily routine.  It's not that there is anything wrong with it and it's just not for me - it's never a product I go for.

I've actually used the Facial Exfoliator deep pore cleanser as part of my morning routine.  It's a lovely gentle exfoliator which left my skin clean and soft to start the day.  It removes any dry flaky skin and it's also been helping to sort out my bad skin recently.  It's priced at £5.99 which is about my usual price for an exfoliator.

The Conditioning Cleansing Lotion has been lovely to use.  When I'm being lazy I just use this in evening and it removes my makeup easily, even my non-waterproof mascara.  As with the whole range my skin is left with a lovely moisturised finish.  Priced at £4.99 it's going to be a definite repurchase.

Overall I'm more than impressed with the range.  Not only in quality but price.  You usually find that with organic products that the price can be a little on the steep side but these are more than reasonable and well worth the price.  I would easily repurchase any of the products, although as stated above the facial wash is just not for me.

Nivea Pure & Natural Soothing Day Cream

I seem to be constantly on the search for a 'Holy Grail' moisturiser. I've been using Neal's Yard Orange Flower Moisturiser for some time, and although I love it, I started to find that it wasn't really working any long on my nose. I suffer from quite bad dry skin on my nose and I really need a good moisturiser to combat the flakiness. But for some reason this had stopped working it's magic.

So off I went any on the hunt for another moisturiser. Now not only do I suffer from dry, flaky skin, but I also have a tendency to break out when the moisturiser are quite heavy and thick - so I fall into the combination skin box, however I also find my skin to be quite sensitive. As you can see not an easy task to find a good moisturiser.

I picked up the Nivea Pure and Natural, as I've always liked Nivea as a brand, but have never really used their moisturisers. I picked up the Soothing Day Cream for Dry to Sensitive Skin.

Firstly, it contains Chamomile and Moroccan Argan Oil and 95% of the ingredients are from natural origins.

It also doesn't include any parabens, silicones, colourants or mineral oils.

It initially looks like quite a thick moisturiser but once on the skin it's nice and light and soaks in quickly.

I think this falls into the moisturiser that have a gel like feel to them, much the same as the Neal's Yard moisturiser, and I have to admit that it's definitely my preferred type of moisturiser.

Also I love the smell - it's so refreshing and you definitely smell the chamomile.

Overall I love this moisturiser. It soaks in quickly and leaves my skin soft and hydrated.

For £5.10 from Boots, this is seriously looking like a good contender for re-purchasing and HG status.

Holy Grail Moisturiser?....I think so...

Seen as L showed you her Holy Grail Moisturiser I though I would show you my contender, this was also mentioned in my July favourites as well.

I originally tried this back in March when Clinique did the offer with Glamour for their 10 years of Glamour. Readers were able to get sample sized Clinique products free with the £2 magazine. I decided I wanted to try the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief so I managed to picked up 2 lots.

I have been on a search for awhile to find the right moisturizer, but I have never found one I love. If they moisturised my skin well they would breakout and if they didn't break me out I would end up with dry patches.

Well I was so pleased when I tried this, my skin soaks it right up my dry patches have gone yet so have my breakouts and a little goes along way. So after using up my two freebies I gave in and brought the 50ml version from Clinique at £30.
What Clinique say;
'Light, comfortable cream/gel plumps skin with hydration for a full 24 hours. Fine lines, flakiness and tightness are washed away. In their place-a sense of supple, firm, vibrant well-being, even through shifts in humidity. One 'drink' and skin looks and feels happier, healthier.'

I have to say I am a bit gutted at paying £30 for it as the Glamour freebie's were 30ml, yet this is only 50ml. I could have got 15 bottle from Glamour for £30 and that would have been...450ML!!! Silly me!

But I will repurchase this as I love it and a little really goes along way.

Clean & Clear Morning Energy

I brought this on a whim really. I saw it in Superdrug and liked the sound of 'Morning Energy - Skin Brightening Daily Facial Moisturiser' and it was only £2.99. I thought what the hell, lets try it.

I actually rubbed a little of the moisturiser in on the left of the cream to try and show you the shimmer to it, but I wasn't able to really pick it up.

It's described as a non greasy daily moisturiser and I have to admit that given the packaging I was expecting more of a fluid type texture, but as you can see above it's quite a creamy product. It does sink in quite quickly once put on and I wouldn't really say I'm left with any tackiness, but I do feel like by face looks quite greasy. I think that's due to the glitter - yep glitter. This falls into the type of 'brightening moisturisers' where they pack the glitter in to give you a radiant glow - yuck. Why do you want glitter all over your face???

I can't stand it! Even after I've applied my foundation etc, I can still see it.

Also really don't like the smell. It has a citrus fragrance to it and it does actually state on the bottle that it contains Lemon and Papaya extract, but to me it just smells artificial and a bit iffy!

*shudders after sniffing it again on my hand* - No I don't like it!

I don't have any else to really say about it, I just don't like it. I think the only positive thing I can say is that I do like the packaging. It's a lot more hygienic then sticking your finger in a tub like you get with most moisturisers. I wish more brands would see this as a better alternative.

Anybody else given this a go?

A Good Moisturiser v A Bad Smell

Ok so today's post is actually on some products my mum a.k.a Heather, Le Grand Fromage, Tron (as in Heathertron), or Ned as she's more than usually referred to has been trying out.

Not 100% sure where most of these nicknames have come from and we're not sure she's that keen on any of them, but it hasn't stopped us yet ;)

She's been after a new moisturiser recently and after seeing some good reviews we said she should try something from the Lacura range at Aldi's - she wants a good but cheap product.

She picked up the Q10 Restorative Day Cream for Mature Skin, along with the Multi Intensive Serum.

In the end, I think her review comes down to whether you can put up with a Really Bad Smell for a good product.

Is its really worth it??

So over to our mum!

Day One – Face cream only

Smell is disgusting had to wash my hands because I couldn’t stand smell on them! Went on like thick gulp – yuck! Thoughts - I won’t be using this again. However that evening my skin felt so soft. Not sure if I’ll last week.

Day Two

Decided to preserve - just need to get passed the smell and gulp! I have used Olay since I can’t remember when, but Lucura is having much better results in just a few days.

Day Three

Used serum first then the face cream – much better the cream seemed to sink in better and smell better... not sure if I’m just getting to it or the serum helped! My skin feels lovely.

Day Four and onwards

Results – put up with down sides of face cream because the results are so good.

Haven’t said very much about serum... leaving the best till last, amazing absolutely love it. Beats No 7 Prefect and Protect for me – not often I really like a product. I’m a ‘well I’ve bought it now and waste not want not type of girl’. But this is good, I will still use my No 7 Serum up but this is the best thing EVER.

Day Seven

No breakouts, just soft skin, my skin feels better each day.

The Serum is my must have product and I really don’t rave. As for the Face Cream, I’ll see how I feel by I get to the end of the jar! (Not sure I’ll make it though) Still on the fence! But don’t think I’ll buy it again.... still need to find my prefect face cream on a budget.

Liz Earle Moisturisers Review

So with winter well and truly here - so cold up North today! I'm in desperate need of a winter moisturiser.

Luckily the lovely people at Liz Earle offered to send over their Skin Repair and Superskin moisturisers for me to try. I had just finished my Neal's Yard Orange Flower daily moisturiser and wasn't sure what to use next, as nothing had really been working for me and if anything I was ending up with more dry skin, so it was perfect timing.

Now I absolutely love Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and you can see my review here, so I had high hopes for these.

Firstly I was sent the Skin Repair for Dry Skin, as per my request for my skin requirements.

I've been using this once a day as a night cream, as I found it quite heavy for the day. It sinks into my skin really well and I love how my skin looks the next day. It feels super soft - gorgeous. Some people may be off put by the tickness of the cream, but for my skin and anyone else with dry skin - this is perfect for winter. Also I have a tendency for regular breakouts, but this didn't seem to cause me any problems - which is a small miracle.

Overall I love it! However I do have an issue with the product, the smell. Now its probably just me, as I do have SERIOUS issues with fragranced products. I don't like anything strong and for me this is a little bit overpowering - but for others this once again won't be a problem and don't get me wrong, it hasn't stopped me using it but I would prefer a fragranced free moisturiser.

So I also received the Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser,

Can I just start with saying, I LOVE this! I've been using this as my daily morning moisturiser every day since I got it. I just apply it after I tone in the mornings.

Once again it sinks in well, even though it looks quite thick in the tub. My face is left hydrated but not greasy, and it hasn't caused any problems with my foundation.

My skin condition has so improved since using this along with the Cleanse and Polish. I would even go as far as to say its glowing!! Also I prefer the smell to this one, its not as strong - so perfect for me.

And as an added bonus, a little goes a long way with both moisturisers.

Overall, I wasn't disappointment, both moisturiser are fantastic for winter. Have to admit that the Superskin is my favourite though - will definitely be re-purchasing when mine runs out.

Neal's Yard Nourishing Orange Flower Daily Moisture

As usual over the summer, there was a lot of lovely freebies in magazines and one of the many that I picked up was the Neal's Yard Moisturiser, which I think was with Instyle.


I'd fancied trying some of their products anyway so this was the perfect chance.

from the website "Replenishes and protects DRY skin.

Nourishing neroli and antioxidant pomegranate oils intensely moisturise, soothe and protect dry skin in a light, easily absorbed lotion."

Also this had the perfect description for my skin. I suffer from quite bad dry skin on my nose (it always looks flaky), but I tend to break out with heavy creams, so its descriptions a light sounded great.

It doesn't disappoint either. It has a very light weight texture to it - almost serum like in a sense. It blends in easily and doesn't leave me at all greasy. If anything it really seems to matte my skin out without drying it. I usually go for cream moisturisers so having a lotion was a nice change.

Now I have said this before - I'm not the biggest fan of strong smelling products and this is definitely one of them, however I stuck with it. Also don't be fooled by the orange in the name, as its the 'orange flower', so its smells quite aromatic.

I've actually just finished the tub I got free and I'm very pleased with the results. My skin has been left lovely and smooth. The dry flaky skin has disappeared of my nose - which is amazing, especially given the temperature drop recently. Also I've not suffered any breakouts from it - which due to the natural oils within the products, I was a little scared of.

Overall - really loved using the moisturiser, its seems to have really fitted in well with my new routine. Only down side for me is the price. You can purchase it from the website

, at either £22.00 for 100ml or £7.00 for the 25 ml (which is the same size as the freebie). I know that doesn't seem a terrible price for a moisturiser I've enjoyed using, but I think it just depends on how long the 100ml lasts me. Have to admit the 25ml went a long way.

Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight, non-greasy moisturiser for dry skin. It would be perfect for the cold winter months ahead.

Soap & Glory Bright Here Bright Now™ Instant Radiance Energy Balm

Ok I admitted that when we started our blog I was a Soap and Glory virgin!

Can't really say why I'd never tried anything before, always wanted to but just never did. Well following my first purchase of The Fab Pore....I'm now well and trully hooked. The products I've tried so far have been great and the packaging super cute.

I recently picked up Bright Here, Bright Now Instant Radiance EnergyBalm, as in summer I do like to use some sort of radiance mosituriser, as I'm quite fair and don't tan, so I feel my complexion just needs something to make it glow. I've previously tried Olay's Daily Radiance, but found that Iwas breaking out if I used it for a few days in a row, so I thought a balm might be better.

So the product promises to (from the site) 'make your skin dazzle with moisturising apricot kernel oil, aloe vera and our immediate face firming active INSTANTIGHT2™'.




Ironically I picked the perfect time to give this a go!. I'd been suffering from dental problems recently and ended up having one of my wisdom teeth removed...ouch! Resulting in a month of continuous painkillers and serious lack of sleep! Most mornings I looked a delightful shade of grey haha!

I applied this in the morning after my moisturiser and before my foundation. The texture is creamy and a little thick, but not the same a mosituriser and doesn't feel heavey on at all. It's not shimmery as it doesn't have any silly sparkly bits like some other radiance products (which is even better!) and its just perks my skin up in the morning. I just get a nice fresh look to my skin and its really helped to hide my sleep deprivation.

In the pictures below, the one with the flash has really picked up the nice glow, although you'll see in the one without its only subtly and its picked up in that one.

I've been applying it over and I do think this is the best way, however you could probably just apply it where you think you need it.

As I said it is a little thick so I was concerned it may break me out, but so far so good.

I can't really say I've found any faults with the product. The packaging is hygienic and a little goes a long way. Its priced at £10.00 which isn't a bad price.

Verdict - Definately going to be a re-purchase. I just love it!!

Eyeko Fat Balm, Cream and Tinted Cream

Hello again girlies!!!

How are you today?? I am darn good again because the sun is shining! Yay!

So I wanted to talk to you about my first Eyeko "haul". I ordered:-
Eyeko Cream and Tinted Cream Set, Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner Pen in brown and received Fat Balm in Raspberry for FREE with order!

I have never used Eyeko products before, but the creams were recommended to me by @thindarella on Twitter, so I had to try!

So I thought I better do some swatches for you ladies that may be like me and never tried any Eyeko products...

Well, I love each and every one of these products!!! I was so happy when I tried them! I now use the graffiti pen everyday - it's perfect for lining my eyes without them looking too "done".

I used the creams for the first time properly on Sunday night when I was doing my "going out" makeup. And they are divine making my skin glow without being greasy - and they are so moisturising! I've even gone without primer today! LOVE IT!

And I love the Fat Balm too - its really nourishing on my lips and although it's a tad darker than I normally use I really do like the colour on!

I would recommend purchasing all of these product as they are all fabulous and I will definitely be buying them again.
