17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Beehive

Just a quick review of 17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Beehive. I've seen this about for a while and I wasn't really sure about it.

In the end I gave up and picked it up, cos I was convinced it would look good on!

I'm glad to say I was right.

It has a lovely pinky/peachy tone to it, which is spot on for me. I'm just not really sure why I haven't picked it up sooner - its perfect.
It goes on with a nice gloss to it and its really moisturising - so doesn't look dry! Just love it.
Here's a pic of it on yesterday from my FOTD.

Its perfect for work and it's definitely working it's way up to one of my everyday favourites.

FOTD

Ok so last week in work we were told we had to have photo's taken as they were changing our passes to get into work into Photo ID cards. Great!

So we were told that yesterday was when they were taking place and of course the whole office ended up looking like a Boots advert, as all the girls wanted to make sure they looked their best.

So here's what I went with,

I'm wearing: -

FACE
  • Prime Time Primer
  • Bobby Brown Moisture Rich Foundation in Alabaster (loving this at the moment)
  • Benefit Erase Paste in Light and Benefit It Stick concealers.
  • Accessorize Baked Blusher in Starlet
  • Accessorize Highlighter
  • He-Shi Fusion Multi Bronzer (Ok I know I look quite pale, but I only use a little to make myself look a little healthier)
EYES
  • UDPP
  • Natural Collection Water Guard Mascara in Brown Black
  • ELF Waterproof Eye Liner Pen in Coffee
  • MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom

LIPS

  • 17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Beehive (with Dior Lip Maximiser as well)
Oh and this is the dress I'm wearing with a white shirt underneath and black tights. I got it from Dorothy Perkins for £17.00 in the sale and it's currently my favourite item of my work wardrobe. Love it!

N.Y.C Metro Quartet in Chelsea Chic

Today's post is on an eyeshadow quartet I had picked up in the summer from Superdrug, I had got in it my wedding make-up search. I was really drawn to the pale turquoise and the taupe colour. But I have to say I have ended up using all of the colours.

N.Y.C isn't a brand I have particularly looked at before in Superdug, I see it all the time but i don't really look. My mum had actually spotted this set, mine is the Chelsea Chic version and it also comes in Broadway or Union Square. I particularly liked that it gave you and idea or how to apply each of the eyeshadow. And as this was £3.99 I have been looking online at other items I would like to buy at
Superdrug.

On the swatches below the lilac and taupe come out quite pale, but the taupe comes out better on my eyes. I love the pale turquoise shade it will be a fave of mine for sure. I have mainly used the dark brown as a eye liner using my Eyeko magic eyeliner.

Only the brown and turquoise are highly pigmented the other two are pale, but I don't! I really like this palette and the eye looks you can do with it.

After liking this purchase I am going to next look at the nail varnishes which look like they have some nice shades. Have you tried anything from the range? if so what would you recommend?

New Love - Softlips

So the after our post on Lip Balm Love! Someone asked what were our favourites and even though this wasn't included in the original post, this is my current favourite.

I found it in Superdrug the other day and I love it! Its the usual twist up stick balm, its goes on nice and smooth and instantly my lips feel better. And weirdly for me I actually love the smell. -its French Vanilla and very yummy!!

Now as you can see in the picture its not biggest of balms and the tub is very thin, but its the perfect size for putting on.

and to make things even better its got SPF 20, which even though its cold its still good to be wearing for protection on them cold clear days! So for £1.79 from Superdrug I really recommend checking them out.

Weekend Shopping....More Accessorize & Aldi

I went back to my mum's in Wales last weekend and wanted to show you some of my purchases!

I have been unable to look or buy and of the Accessorize make-up as my Superdrug in Milton Keynes does not stock the range, the nearest store to me to have the range is Leighton Buzzard. So I emailed Superdrug (who I have to say were helpful) to check whether Wrexham had it.....and they did yeah!!!! So I decided to get a few items :)

I first wanted this set that I had seen on the Accessorize website, which was one of there Rock Star Hot Smudge sets that contain an eyeshadow and a cream eyeliner as well as a dual ended brush, mine is the back stage set.

I absolutely love the eyeshadow in this set and will hopefully be wearing it this Saturday night! Its a lovely dark, shimmery charcoal shade and is highly pigmented. I am a little disappointed with the eyeliner as it is a bit pale and the brush in the set isn't very good to use with it. I have used this eyeliner thought to go to work on Monday and I think I will use is more as an everyday eyeliner! It just seems to come out quite pale and wasn't what I expected. But for £5 I do love it! and the packaging is soooo cute.

I also got my self two nail varnishes from the Accessorize range in Storm from the Je t'aime range and Idol from the Rock star range.

Storm's colour is completely what you would expect a stormy, cloudy grey/mauve colour and I love it on my nails. But with this colour I had to use 3 coats to get it a good opaque colour. Where as with Idol I only need 2 coats and the finish was good. Now Idol has tiny bits of glitter in the varnish, that is some lights make it have dark green or silver sheen to the polish. Out of the two Idol is my favorite but I would wear storm more as its a good dark everyday polish (that's if your allowed to wear dark nail varnish to work). I also found that both polishes were easy to apply and good value or £4 each, the choice of colour was great too!

Now the other items I purchased were from Aldi's, we had popped in as my Mum had wanted to get the serum everyone talks about. So I couldn't leave without buying something as well.

So I got myself the Lacura moisturising eye cream and Lacura Shimmering Day Cream. Now the eyecream is nice to put on and as I currently don't use any other eyecream I though why not try it, and it was only £1.49! So I will let you know how I get on with it! As I said I also got the Lacura Shimmering Day Cream which was £1.99. Now Aldi's press website states

'About Lacura Shimmering Day Cream: This day cream with light reflecting pigments adds a silky-shimmering effect, making skin appear radiant. The light cream gel is enriched with Defensil and is easily absorbed, helping to condition and protect sensitive skin'

and the press has been raving about it and supposedly it has been voted top of Radiance creams by Celebs on Sunday Beauty Survey 2010, beating Vie Skin Dew and Boots No7 radiance Beauty Balm.

But onto my review, As soon as i put a bit on my instant thoughts were how lovely it smells ( a bit like peaches) and oh! that's a bit shimmery. From the pictures below you see the shimmer that the flash brought out in the picture. Now I know it says it has a 'silky-shimmering effect' but I was a bit scared when I put it on the back of my hand.

You don't need to use much at all the cover your whole face one pump is enough. The cream doesn't absorb that quick into the skin, but I felt that it left my face feeling lovely and nourished. Now when I had put it on my hand I was a bit put off by the shimmer but I didn't notice it as much on my face. I have combination skin that is sensitive so I will also have to see how I get on with it as things that don't agree with my skin either cause a breakout or dry my skin out....I just can't win! L is exactly the same.

I don't think I would use this under my make-up as I don't think it would help to keep my make-up on. And I currently have been using Soap & Glory Bright Here Bright Now which I prefer under my make-up. What I will probably use this for is too mix in with my foundation especially or a night out, so this tub will last me ages but for £1.99 I wouldn't mind getting it again and might have a look and try some more from the range.

What are your thoughts on Accessorize? are you loving it as well? Also have you tried any of the Aldi's face care? let us know...
