Revlon Lip Butters

Today's review is on the super hyped Revlon lips Butters.

I decided to pick up Peach Parfait, Cotton Candy and Sugar Frosting (L-R).  The swatches below are in the same order, first one swipe then two swipes.

Here they are on the lips in the same order.

First off these come in the nice Revlon quilted packaging and each come slightly tinted to match with their shade (which is a nice touch).  This does to give these a slightly higher end feel, but its also just gives them a good sturdy casing.

The Revlon Lip Butters are available in 14 shades (we have not had all 20 the shades available in the US) and are priced at £7.99.  You can get these now in Boots and Superdrug, currently Boots is still running 3 for 2 so you can always be naughty and get a couple of shades like me!

The idea behind these is that they are a tinted lip balm, but are seriously pigmented.  They leave your lips feeling super soft but you get to wear a great shade.  The pigmentation of these is amazing.

I really struggled to decide which to try first but settled on Peach Parfait, Cotton Candy and Sugar Frosting.  Each of the shades I picked up has a slight gold sheen to them, but not all the shades available do.  My favourite is Peach parfait, this is the shade Emma Stone is wearing in the publicity shot.  I am a little disappointed with Sugar Frosting as its not very pigmented at all, but it will fit in with the rest of my lipstick as I can at least swipe and go.

Overall these are lovely but I am a lip balm fan and don't like lipstick to be too heavy.  I know a lot of people will see them as being overpriced for a lip balm.  And £7.99 is a little steep for me too but these are lovely on your lips.  These are so thick and literally melt onto the lips.  They are certainly a superior tinted lip balm.  I am very tempted to picked up Strawberry Shortcake but the rest of the shades don't really tempt me.  Unfortunately the staying power is not fantastic but I enjoying applying them so don't mind so much.

I am not convinced the hype was completely justified and I have a post coming up on the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick which I have been reaching for a little more.  But they are worth a look.

What do you think?  Are you a fan?  Which shade is your fave?

Thanks

Revlon Purple Petal and Rock

L-R Purple Petal and Rock
I love Revlon polishes.  I find them easy to apply and I love the colour selection.  They tend to stock a lot of just nice glossy shades that don't have any glitter (always a major plus with me - although K loves her glitter).  Now I don't think either of these too are part of the current stock as I purchased mine at the beauty stall in my local market - great for a bargain.  Although both can be purchased on Ebay or Amazon for a reasonable price - it appears as though some are selling for less inclusive of delivery than the original price of the polish.

I think both colours are stunning for the summer with Purple Petal (which is more pink than purple) being a definite favourite at the moment.

It's well worth a peak at the beauty stands in the local markets as they do seem to stock a weird range of drugstore brands for a lot less than the main stores.  I think I paid around £1.50 each!

Definitely worth finding these on line.

Revlon Gold Coin

Hey,

I recently picked up a new Revlon nail polish, I hadn't tried any Revlon nail polishes until I picked up Facets of Fuchsia & Smokey Canvas you can see that post here. The colour I picked up this time was Gold Coin.
Revlon nail polishes retail at around £6.29 but can vary depending where you get them.

Gold Coin is a cool toned gold which I why I picked up.

As you can see it is a metallic finish but it has a slight foil effect to it. It would be a lovely colour for the festive season. I used two coats but I did noticed that it started to chip quite quickly as I hadn't used a top coat. It also has a metal sort of scent to it. The only way to describe is like the smell of those gold or silver gel pens...or something along those lines. But once the polish has dried there is no smell. As you can see the polish dries with a slight textured look to it which I quite liked but you can always use a topcoat to smooth it out.

I am still not sure what i think of Revlon nail polishes as Smokey Canvas nor Gold Coin lasted long before chipping but I love Facets of Fuchsia. L has tried some other colours here.

Are you a fan of Revlon nail colour? Maybe I should try them with a topcoat?

Thanks

Smokey Canvas & Facets of Fuchsia

Hey,

While wondering through Boots yesterday I noticed some new shades of Revlon nail polish. Now I have never had a Revlon nail polish before, L has reviewed some here, but I loved the look of these two colours.

They are Facets of Fuchsia and Smokey Canvas. Currently Boots has £2 off them so they retail at £4.49.

I am sorry I really struggled to get a good image of Facets of Fuchsia, it has big chunks of glitter in a dark polish. I applied 2 coats of Smokey Canvas and 3 of Facets of Fuchsia

I love the both, Smokey Canvas is a great everyday polish and Facets of Fuchsia will be a great nighttime polish.

Here's Smokey Canvas on

I noticed when I applied it, it looked familiar so I swatches it with my other nudes and beiges and it does look a little like ELF Desert Haze.

Far right is Desert Haze then Smokey Canvas on the end. It's different enough for me not to be disappointed.

What do you think?

NOTD Accessroies Fudge with Revlon Star

Breaking away from my usual norm of Shimmer & Glitter free nail polishes – I’ve got a NOTD to show you using Revlon Top Coat in Star. I’d not seen this before and when I saw it in a bargain beauty stall I thought it give it a go. It was only £1.50 so it was a bargain! The Revlon polish, itself is made up a blue and silver glitter with large silver circles – the rest of the polish is a clear top coat.

I decided to pair it with my Accessorise polish in Fudge – mainly as it was on already and I was having a bit of a play.

So here’s the end result.

For me, its ok – other may like it but it’s just a little to sparkly then what I’m used to. I may give it a whirl on a night out but would never consider using it for a daytime nail.

NOTD Revlon Tropical Temptation

I picked this up ages ago and have never got around to wearing it!! and I really don't know why.

Its such a gorgeous colour and perfect for summer. Its a bit more orangey in colour than a normal coral shade but I like that.

This the only Revlon nail varnish I've tried and I really like the texture. It goes on really well and no streaks! (I do think the brush is a little on the small size, but I think that may be down to me using a lot of the collection 2000 nail varnish lately that have quite a thick brush). I did have to go for 3 coats but that's mainly due to the light colour.

At £6.29 for a 14ml bottle I might go and give a few other colours a go.

I think this is going to be a definite summer favourite!
