Round up of the week and news....

Firstly, cannot believe its the end of July already - madness. Also I've been married 8 weeks - scary ha ha.

So we've already mentioned that July has been a very busy month for birthday's. So its been nice to have a quiet week.

Although I did go Car Booting with the Hubbie - looking for vintage but cheap bits for my dressing table.

Well so much for a quite weekend. This was the plan for me and the Hubbie, however it never happened. We ended up packing up our house - yep we're moving and not just near by! We're leaving Lancaster and heading off back to my hometown in North Wales. So it's going to be quite a difference.

Also we've not got a couple of months to sort stuff out - we've got 2 weeks!! So all quite sudden.

So on the blog this week:-

Liz Earle Treatment Masks

So on our little blog, both K and myself have a lot of love for Liz Earle. We both suffer from sensitive skin and definitely need something gentle yet effective to use. So far we've not been disappointed with their products, as you can tell from our past reviews.

On the run up to my wedding, Liz Earle kindly sent me two face masks to try, in order to achieve a lovely glow on my big day.

So I received the Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask, on the left and Brightening Treatment Mask, on the right.

First up the Brightening Mask - so this is specifically for dull skin. This is a big problem for me. I don't sleep all that well and with having fair skin, some days I can end up having a greyish undertone to my face. Obviously, planning a wedding is quite stressful, so I was really concerned that I wouldn't have a natural glow to my skin on the big day.

What Liz Earle have to say,

Problem: dull skin.

Solution: our fast-acting ‘minute’ mask instantly revitalises. Containing stimulating camphor oil and toning witch hazel to help give your skin a natural-looking radiance.

Use in the morning or whenever a quick fix is needed.

Naturally active ingredients include aloe vera to help cool and soothe, toning witch hazel and purifying white clay.

It should be noted that this isn't recommend for sensitive skin, but I haven't had any problems with it. However everybody's different.

Due to the clay in the product, its quite thick but its simple enough to apply. It also includes Aloe Vera and Witch Hazel. You can really smell the Witch Hazel.

You use it whenever you feel that you need a pick me up. You apply around 1 to 2 pumps to clean, dry skin and leave for between 30 secs to 2 mins. You then gently wipe off the residue with a muslin cloth which comes with it.

Just to let you know you get a slight tingling sensation would applied.

It's a great pick me up, and I use it whenever I look like the walking dead in the morning.

Next up the Nourishing Mask - design for dry, dehydrated or stressed skin. Another perfect mask for the run up to a wedding.

What Liz Earle say,

Problem: dry, dehydrated or stressed skin.

Solution: this deeply rehydrating ‘moisture’ mask will help to replenish, calm, condition and moisturise skin.

Apply to face and neck and relax for 10-15 minutes.

Naturally active ingredients include St John’s wort to soothe, borage to help lock in moisture and rose scented geranium to help tone and balance .

This is a lot creamier compared to the Brightening mask and contains St John's Wort, Borage, Comfrey and Rose Scented Geranium.

You use this as often as you feel you need to. You apply a thick layer of cream and leave for 10 to 15 mins. After this use a muslin cloth to gentle wipe off the residue.

Once again this one is also a great pick me up. I tend to use it once a week to combat any dry skin. It's also great if you've had a hectic week and your skincare regime has gone out the window.

Both have become a staples in my weekly skincare regime.

Urban Decay Peroxide

Hey,

Just want to show you a lipstick I got with some of my Birthday vouchers! I've picked up 3 lipsticks so far with my vouchers and the first I want to show you and swatch was from Urban Decay called Peroxide (£13.00). Here's a little bit from Urban Decay about their lipsticks:

'Decadently creamy, long-lasting color, a wide variety of textures, and a sweet lick of crème caramel... our Lipstick is a weapon of love. Leaving no shade unturned, our huge assortment of colors and textures tempt you to stray from an otherwise predicable palette. The luxuriously creamy formula nourishes and protects lips with Vitamins A, C, and E. Hyaluronic Spheres (found naturally in the body) are added to stimulate cellular function, prevent dehydration, and fill-in lines and wrinkles-now, how many Lipsticks can do that?! The teardrop-shape bullet (etched with an Urban Decay logo) is infused with a decadent crème caramel scent and flavor. Yum'

Well firstly, you can see the packaging in the image below, it certainly does look like a weapon. The packaging is certainly extreme!

My shade peroxide is decribed as a palest pink, but as you can see below the photo's look my pink/beige in colour. But I think it looks more pink in real life on my lips.

It's a very easy to wear and apply lippy. Also look at the detail on the actual lipstick...cute.

For £13.00 it is on par with MAC and I have to say I prefer to texture of this too most MAC lipsticks. It feels creamy and leaves my lips feeling lovely once applied, due to the colour and texture its very easy to just apply on the run. I would buy it again....but and its a big BUT! I cannot stand the smell. It is sooooo overpowering and sickly sweet. Urban Decay say 'creme caramel...yum', no its not! Why do companies feel the need to make everything so scented. It's such a shame as I love the texture and application, I will end up using it but I would not repurchase.

Have you tried Urban Decay lipsticks?

Thank You

Bourjois Rose D'Or

Shockingly this is my very first Bourjois Blush. It's not that I've never wanted to try them, but I have to admit until recently Bourjois has just not been a brand I ever looked at. For a drugstore brand it's at the top end price wise - and that's definitely put me off in the past.

The little round pot blushers cost £7.49 and it's around £10 for foundations.

I eventually decide to give the blushers a go when Superdrug had a 3 for 2 offer, as I really wanted to try the Healthy Mix foundation and thought it was a great chance to try the blusher.

I instantly went for Rose D'Or as it looked perfect for me and I've seen it about on other blogs and it looked great.

It's a gorgeous shade of pink, with the perfect amount of shimmer to it without having a disco ball feel.

I love the packaging as well - so pretty and practical with the little mirror. It comes with a little curved brush as well, but I wasn't to keen on it really and don't use it - and then I couldn't find it when it came to photographing it.

Now as you can see in the picture below, I've had a problem with my little pot.....

the blusher pan's fallen out.

The bottom of the pan is quite sticky so it is managing to stay in but I'm so disappointed, especially for the price. The hubbie's picking up some superglue for me to stick it back in.

Despite this I still love the blusher and it sits perfectly on my skin.

It gives me a lovely glow to my cheeks and really perks up my day to day makeup.

So despite the pan coming out I really do love the little blush.

Anybody else had any problems with the pan's coming out?

Any other Bourjois blushers I should check out?

It's Nearly Pay Day....

Whenever it gets near payday I start looking at things to buy....it's not like I even have money after payday! Luckily I still have some birthday vouchers to spend.

The items drawing my attention this month are firstly Jimmy Choo Perfume.
When this first came out I smelt it and I wasn't sure but it has certainly grown on me! My Mum had it as a present for her 50th and she let me have a spray and its made me want it more! It retails between £40-£45 depending where you get it from.

The second and third items are from the new MUA Professional range and retails at £4 for a palette of 12 eyeshadows.

I really want Starry Night (above) and Heaven & Earth (below).

From the swatches I have seen in the blogsphere these look well worth the money! You can see some here.
Lastly I really want W7 Africa,
This retails at around £3.99 and you can actually get it in New Look and if you are lucky you can get this for £1.99 in Savers. Nicoletta does a post on it here.

Whats on your payday wish list?

Thanks

Barry M Lipgloss combos

So a while ago I picked up the I picked up the Impulse body spray that had the Limited Edition Barry M gloss free with them. I'm a bit late, well very late blogging about the offer however I really wanted to show you how I've been using them.

First up, the pink gloss.

Barry M Pink and MAC Cream Cup

This one has a bit of a sparkle to it, which I usually tend to avoid in lip glosses however it does seem to have that grainy feeling that some get. It's very much a baby pink colour with a fruity sweet smell to it - it made me think of strawberry chewits.

I like to pair this up with my MAC Cream Cup - I love the lipstick on its own but I'm very much a gloss girl. Never feel right without it.

left to right - Mac Cream Cup with Barry M Pink over the top, MAC Cream Cup on its own, Barry M Pink on its own

And here's the combo on,

Next up is my favourite of the glosses,

Barry M Caramel and Barry M Nude - stickers come off so not sure of the number and can't find it on the website

I love this gloss. It's just a nice simple gloss that's lovely and smooth. Also it doesn't have any glitter to it - bonus! It has a caramel scent to it which I love.

Barry M gloss and lipstick, Barry M Lipstick, Barry M Gloss
Here it is on,

I just find that with both of these combo's that I get a nice glossy but natural look. Perfect for the a natural day look.

A lovely Birthday Gift...

Hey,

Just wanted to show you one of my lovely presents I got a couple of weeks ago for my Birthday, I received this nails Inc set from my work colleague. This is the Royal Collection that was released for the Royal wedding. The colours are:

  • Balmoral - Caramel biege colour

  • Westminster Abbey - pale gold

  • Sandringham - Red with shimmer

  • Windsor - Blue with shimmer

My favourites are the Blue and the Red, I absolutely love a navy nail polish and this is a great inky colour. I have applied two coats of each shade and they all applied nicely. Please ignore the odd bit on the gold nail it was a rubbish nail to swatch on.

What do you think? Did you try any of the Nails Inc Royal nail polishes?

Thank you.

Witch Anti Blemish Skin Clearing Primer

Hey,

You may have noticed that I have mentioned this primer in my favourites a couple of times so I thought as I have nearly used this one up I would do a post on it. This primer has been mentioned and reviewed a lot in the past couple of months especially as Witch held a bloggers event. After reading a lot of these posts and realising I really needed to start using a primer I decided to give it a go and I am sooo pleased!

The Witch Anti Blemish Skin Clearing Primer retails at £6.99 at Boots, firstly here is what Witch say:

'Witch Anti-blemish Skin Clearing Primer is designed to help prepare your skin for foundation by mattifying and absorbing excess oils, providing a smooth, silky base that helps you achieve an even and long lasting finish with any foundation or powder. Added to this, the Witch Anti-blemish Skin Clearing Primer also helps prevent and target blemishes by protecting skin from the layers of make-up which can cause or aggravate blemishes.

  • Helps prevent and target blemishes

  • Mattifies and absorbs excess oil

  • Can be used alone or under your favourite foundation or powder'

My skin is certainly blemish prone so this seemed like a winner especially for the price.

I tend to apply one full squirt to my fingers and then blend across my face, then leave it for a couple of minutes then appply my foundation. As I have only used a small amount this 30ml tube has lasted me around 3 months.

I apply mine at around 7 am and when I get home at 6pm I still like how my face looks. I also feel that this primer tied in with my current skincare routine has really helped to clear up my blemish and stop more from coming out. I haven't really been able to find a fault with this yet. It doesn't really have an odour which is another positive - especially as witch hazel and antibacterial products can smell a little.

I have included a little FOTD with this as a base

Face:
*Witch Skin Clearing Primer - all over

*Lush Jackie Oates Colour Supplement

*Collection 2000 Shimmer Shade Blushalicious

*E.L.F Radiance Blusher in Flushed.

Eyes:
*UDPP

*Urdan Decay Virgin

*17 Boots Soft Liner Pen in Soft Mocha

*JFR Mascara

Lips:
* MAC Plink

Have you tried anything for the Witch Cosmetics range?

Thank you
