ELF Matte Lip Colours and ELF Nicely Nude

Hey

When ELF were running their 50% off I decided to make a purchase of some items I'd been eyeing up. Instead of doing one massive post I am going to group the products together. The lip items I got were the Matte Lip Colours on Tea Rose and Coral, and I also got a Mineral Lipstick in Nicely Nude.

Onto the Matte Lip Colours first, these retail at £3.50 and are available in 4 shades (Tea Rose, Coral, Praline, Natural). They are like a pencil/crayon that you can twist and apply.

After seeing some swatches I decided which I wanted.below is Tea Rose on the right and Coral on the left.

And here are the swatches

I have to say I am not keen on these and I really don't like them on my lips alone. I don't mind then as much with gloss but I won't be getting anymore of these or repurchasing.

The next item I got was a Mineral Lipstick in Nicely Nude, these come in around 16 shades and retail at £3.50.

Now the first thing I will say about this is it's not nude, or at least it's a lot more pink than I was expecting. It is a lovely shade but it's just not my colour at all. Though for £3.50 it has nice packaging, very sleek.

And here is the lipstick on

I like it but it's not what I was after.

Seen as I got these half price I don't mind that they are not right for me. I would recommend doing a lot of research on swatches before purchasing from the lip products as I have found the hit and miss.

I apologise for the poor images they were done using my iPhone as my camera battery needed charging.

What do you think of these from ELF? Do you have any recommendations from the range?

You can check out our other ELF reviews here.

Thanks

W7 Africa Bronzer

Hey,

Just had to show you one of my new favourites!

Its W7 Africa, I hadn't really tried much from W7 except the odd nail varnish.
This is a lovely multi tonal bronzer and I managed to get mine for £3.99 at New Look. Now I did see this over on Nicoletta's Blog, check out here post and blog here, and I knew I had to have it. She managed to get her's for £1.99 from Savers, but when I saw this in New Look I decided to just grap it.

As you can see from the image above this isn't to over the top, no big sparkle just lovely shimmery colours. Now for the swatches, firstly just heavily swiped on the left and blended on the right.

Again just applied with my brush to the back on my hand.

I am sorry for the lack of facial shots in the post, I have a big blemish that just looked awful in every picture!

I have been using this everyday since picking it up and I love it. I like it that much that I got one to add to the giveaway which you can still enter here.

Have you tried any W7 products?

They're Real and Ring my Bella

Last week we had the opportunity to go along to Benefit in Spitalfields for a preview of They're Real Mascara. We previously told you about the Flash Sale that Benefit was hosting and give you a quick look at the Mascara. Well tomorrow, the Mascara launches nationwide.

As usual Benefit host a great event and we were treated to a Burlesque Routine.

Not only we're we having a look at They're Real Mascara, Benefit also wanted to talk about their newest addition to their Crescent Row - Ring my Bella.

We were also treated to some yummy cocktails,

There was also a lot of makeup artists on hand to help you with the products. K took advantage and had her makeup done and tried out Cha Cha Tint which looked fab on her.

We were given both They're Real Mascara and Ring my Bella to try out.

I love the newest addition to the range, it's very floral and like nothing I've smelt before - it's lovely.

How pretty is the box and the bottle.

Another 2 great products to the Benefit collection.

Smokey Canvas & Facets of Fuchsia

Hey,

While wondering through Boots yesterday I noticed some new shades of Revlon nail polish. Now I have never had a Revlon nail polish before, L has reviewed some here, but I loved the look of these two colours.

They are Facets of Fuchsia and Smokey Canvas. Currently Boots has £2 off them so they retail at £4.49.

I am sorry I really struggled to get a good image of Facets of Fuchsia, it has big chunks of glitter in a dark polish. I applied 2 coats of Smokey Canvas and 3 of Facets of Fuchsia

I love the both, Smokey Canvas is a great everyday polish and Facets of Fuchsia will be a great nighttime polish.

Here's Smokey Canvas on

I noticed when I applied it, it looked familiar so I swatches it with my other nudes and beiges and it does look a little like ELF Desert Haze.

Far right is Desert Haze then Smokey Canvas on the end. It's different enough for me not to be disappointed.

What do you think?

Mirror Mirror...

Well as you have probably realised both L and myself love a bargain, and with the No7 Boots £5 off voucher being available I have been making the most of them!

My latest purchase from the range is the No7 Make-up Mirror:
I wouldn't have normally purchased this as it is small but with the voucher it cost me £3.25 (normally £8.25). I apply my make-up in the bathroom as I have a big mirror on the wall and the light is better. But I do like to have a portable mirror to hand.

The stand on the mirror adjustable and its compact, but too big to just have in your hand bag. But it would make a great travel mirror to stick in my make-up bag. It also has a felt/material backing thus making it non-slip.

Overall I am pleased with me purchase its compact, sleek looking and you can adjust the standing position. For £3.25 I thought this was great!

Have you spent any of the vouchers?

Thanks

Wedding Album

It seems that my wedding was ages ago, not just 2 and a half months ago! But anyway I wanted to show everyone my album, as I was so impressed.

My photographer was great and on the Sunday after the wedding he had already sent me 4 pictures through and by the Tuesday I had all the pictures on a disk along with 4 photo's printed for us.

We then went about sorting out the album. It was all done online and the photographer had choosen around 325 pictures to go in the album and arranged in all for us. After a few tweaks it was done and our album along with a mini one for my mum and sister was received 10 days after the wedding - AMAZING!

So here it is,

They even wrote some of the lyrics from our first dance,

The album was printed through Truprint and I was so happy with the outcome. We had a 50% off voucher through our photographer so in all for the 3 albums it cost £56 and that included delivery.

Round up of the Week

Sorry this is a little later than usual - it's been another busy week!

L is now in her new home and eventually settled and K's had a lot of children and family birthday parties to attend.

So hopefully we can have a more relaxing week - although K's got more parties this weekend and it's the Bank Holiday weekend. Maybe a calmer week after that!

Anyway on the blog this week:

Finally just a quick reminded to say that our giveaway ends on the 28 August - so get your entry in!

Soap & Glory - Tell Me Why?

Hey,

You would think by the name of the post that this was a product review of an item from Soap & Glory but no it's a me whinging about them changing packaging.

I have previously mentioned S&G Off you face cleansing wipes in my Current Skincare Rountine and it's been in my monthly favourites. I enjoy using the wipes as they are quick and simple to use, they actually feel like they are working and they only cost around £4.50 for 25 wipes.

As these have been part of my regular routine I popped along to Boots this month to pick them up and I was annoyed to see they had changed the packaging. The original packaging was:

As you can see it had a clip lid for you to open and close to get the wipes out. Now it's:

It's just a sticky label! From having a child I have learnt that the packets of wipes are best when they come with a proper lid not a sticky label. No matter how hard you try to make sure it's shut properly the label loses it adhesion and won't close, thus it won't keep the wipes moist.

So I was very annoyed that they had changed the wipes. I know it will be a money saving exercise, prices of raw materials across the world are going up and companies need to still be making good margin so they can make a profit. But as my wipes look like this after using up half

I don't think the packet will survive the next half!

I am going to first try to search for old packets it Boots stores nearby. But then I am unsure whether I will continue to use them with the new packaging. As it will continue to annoy me!!

Do you have any favourite items where companies have changed the packaging for the worse?

Thanks

Bargain Eye Shadows

Now who doesn't love a Bargain. These little gems are only £1.79 each or 3 for £5 from Boots. I used to always have a nosy at the Natural Collection range but I have to admit that as I've gotten older I've just stopped looking at the range.

Like most people I think with age I just started looking at more and more expensive brands. But just because something costs a little extra does not necessarily mean it's better quality.

I wanted some basic everyday eye shadows, so I thought I'd have a look at the cheaper brands when I stumbled upon these.

Willow on the right, is a nice shimmery toffee/coffee shade and Sea Shell on the left,is a lovely shimmery beige.

They just looked lovely easy shades to wear.

The eye shadows themselves are easy to blend and I think their quite pigmented, given the price. I have to admit that I did struggle to pick the Sea Shell up in the photo as it is really pale but I'm quite happy in reality.

Would highly recommend checking out the range. They do some gorgeous lipsticks as well and I also have a couple of the mascaras.
