Revlon Lip Butters

Today's review is on the super hyped Revlon lips Butters.

I decided to pick up Peach Parfait, Cotton Candy and Sugar Frosting (L-R).  The swatches below are in the same order, first one swipe then two swipes.

Here they are on the lips in the same order.

First off these come in the nice Revlon quilted packaging and each come slightly tinted to match with their shade (which is a nice touch).  This does to give these a slightly higher end feel, but its also just gives them a good sturdy casing.

The Revlon Lip Butters are available in 14 shades (we have not had all 20 the shades available in the US) and are priced at £7.99.  You can get these now in Boots and Superdrug, currently Boots is still running 3 for 2 so you can always be naughty and get a couple of shades like me!

The idea behind these is that they are a tinted lip balm, but are seriously pigmented.  They leave your lips feeling super soft but you get to wear a great shade.  The pigmentation of these is amazing.

I really struggled to decide which to try first but settled on Peach Parfait, Cotton Candy and Sugar Frosting.  Each of the shades I picked up has a slight gold sheen to them, but not all the shades available do.  My favourite is Peach parfait, this is the shade Emma Stone is wearing in the publicity shot.  I am a little disappointed with Sugar Frosting as its not very pigmented at all, but it will fit in with the rest of my lipstick as I can at least swipe and go.

Overall these are lovely but I am a lip balm fan and don't like lipstick to be too heavy.  I know a lot of people will see them as being overpriced for a lip balm.  And £7.99 is a little steep for me too but these are lovely on your lips.  These are so thick and literally melt onto the lips.  They are certainly a superior tinted lip balm.  I am very tempted to picked up Strawberry Shortcake but the rest of the shades don't really tempt me.  Unfortunately the staying power is not fantastic but I enjoying applying them so don't mind so much.

I am not convinced the hype was completely justified and I have a post coming up on the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick which I have been reaching for a little more.  But they are worth a look.

What do you think?  Are you a fan?  Which shade is your fave?

Thanks
